Okay. :) Heard so much good reviews about that. Though, I don't if it can fit with any of the challenges I'm in. Maybe next year. LOL :D

I started this one today. Only 22% in but so far it seems like a fun, cute read :)

Gee, I'm at 22% right now also, but plan on having some decent reading time tonight...and I agree, fun and cute so far!

I'm done KarenH. I will wait until you are finished before I say anything about it. I kind of want to put my thoughts in a spoiler tag but I know how tempting it is to peak at those, LOL.

Feel free to post whatever you want Fran, I'm at 90% and figure I should be done in 1/2 hour or less...

I posted the spoiler in my personal challenge thread so I wouldn't forget anything. If I don't write it down right away...

Ok, I'm done - it's safe to post here! Need to go deal with dinner, but I'll come back later with my thoughts.

It started with such promise. A cute premise, two best friends going on the honeymoon of one of them. Wanting to just have some fun and heal from a bad break-up. But...there were several things that didn't work for me. I think it just comes down to personal taste,
but these are the things that didn't work for me..

1. Jack seems sleazy from the get go. Only wants the short fling. Dirty mouth, kept calling her baby instead of her name. This works for me sometimes, but for some reason, not so much this time.
2. He has slept with 500-1000 women - gross
3. Most of them are porn stars that work for his company - Smacks of abuse of power.
4. There was no explanation as to why he never contacted her when they got back to NY. 3 weeks, they only run into each other by accident, and no word as to why he didn't call.
5. Syd didn't seem to need an explanation. She was right back on him like white on rice. She just seemed too accepting of him, his jealousy, his secrets, his gross past.
6. I don't mind the porn industry, but I don't want to read about a hero who is in it. And has slept with countless employees.
7. I feel like I read this story before. It was a mash up of several different books I have already read.

What I did like..

1. I really liked Syd's best friend. She came over right away with ice cream and tequila.
2. Some sexy sex scenes
3. I liked all the scenes where the girls were together, singing, hanging out, talking.
4. I liked how Syd stood up to her ex.
5. The 10 questions thing was cute.
6. Jack did encourage her to pursue her dreams.

Overall, an easy, light read. 3*

Ok, I agree with you on some points, others, not so much, so I guess I'll just take them one by one...

SPOILERS!!

Dislikes:
1. I didn't get a sleezy vibe from Jack - only wanted a short fling, but that's all she was after, too. Didn't notice the dirty mouth particularly, and she called him babe or baby too, so that didn't bother me.
2. Agree completely - yeah, that grossed me out a bit.
3. Only semi-agree here - I don't really consider porn stars prostitutes, although I guess in the strictest definition I guess they could be. And I never got the feeling that Jack's affairs (or whatever you want to call them) with his employees were a power play, more like him just taking advantage of what was freely offered...I think that goes back to whether or not you have that sleazy feeling about him from the beginning.
4. Not a lot of explanation, but he did tell her he tried to stay away from her because he felt like he wasn't good enough for her...she was sweet and innocent and he, well, wasn't :P
5. Ok, I'll give you this one...she did develop some issues with his past, but they were mostly based on HER experiences, not his. Although she did have some concerns about his profession, not enough in my opinion.
6. I agree with this one completely.
7. I didn't get this feeling, but that could be just that I haven't read the right books...yet!

Obviously I liked it better than you, I think I'd give it 3.5 stars, leaning toward 4. I'm definitely sucked in enough to need to read the next book!

You're right, the porn stars aren't prostitutes. I definitely used the wrong word. But they are his employees. That just didn't sit right with me. If he was a porn star too I wouldn't have an issue with him sleeping with his co-stars. Even playing field I guess.

I really did like the whole time in Hawaii. Just not NY as much.

I would say 3.5 stars. There were things I liked about it. I guess I just didn't love Jack enough. Maybe it was the number of women he slept with.

I would read the next one in the series to see how it turns out. If Syd is happy with him then who am I to judge, LOL.
