message 2: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander wandered out of his room, lost in thought. Gazing about the dorm without quite seeing it, he ran a hand through his dark hair and sighed wearily. God, what he'd have given for a couple decent minutes of sleep...

message 3: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig opened the door to his new dorm A fresh start he smiled. He trailed his suitcase after him it banged and wobbled a little saying how old it was. He saw someone else and walked towards them, "Hi there I think I'm your new roommate," Padraig said pleasantly.

message 4: by Mel (new)

Mel Blinking out of his daze, his gray eyes flickered to the boy in front of him. For a moment Xander stood in silence, studying him. His new roommate appeared to be younger than himself, probably going into ninth grade here. He seemed amiable enough, though. "Hello," he finally replied.

message 5: by Niámh (last edited Jul 19, 2013 03:43AM) (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig watched as the person in front of him took a while to answer his question, it looked like he was studying him. "I'm Padraig and you are?" Padraig questioned, "I just got here this moring and it took me ages to find this place," he said.

message 6: by Mel (new)

Mel "Ah," he murmured. "I'm sorry for your trouble." After a moment he put out his hand, his steady gaze never leaving the boy. His habit of observing and analyzing people was instinct, beyond help really. "Xander Grayson. Nice to meet you."

message 7: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Ah its fine," Padraig put his hand out too and shook Xanders, "Nice to meet you too." Padraig wondered where his room was, "Hey do you know which one is my room?" He asked his arm was tired from caring the suitcase for so long and he just wanted to lye down.

Mel Xander nodded at the door to the right of his own. "Right over there." He glanced back at Padraig, knowing he was obligated to be mannerly. He really had horrible people skills. "Do you need help with anything?"

message 10: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig looked over at the door which held his room inside, "No I'm ok I can manage, so when did you get here," Padraig asked as he opened the door to his room. It wasn't bad quite spacious, his bed was beside the window against the wall he parked his suitcase against the wall.

message 11: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander followed behind him, leaning in the door frame. "When did I get here?" he repeated. He thought for a moment. Ever since he'd come to this school the days had blended together, like one endless dream. But however it felt, it distracted him from diving too deep into the dangers of his mind. "...A few weeks ago, I believe."

message 12: by Niámh (last edited Jul 19, 2013 02:22PM) (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig nodded, "And hows it been so far?" Padraig asked trying to make friendly conversation. He always tried to make friends wherever he went but it usually never went too well but he seemed to be geting along ok with Xander so he hoped for the future.

message 13: by Mel (new)

Mel "It's..." Xander struggled for some kind of helpful description of the Academy. "It's very... different. So many people I'd spent most of my life questioning the existence of all in the same place." He paused. "But it isn't unsettling. Normal humans would probably lose it if they knew about all this."

message 14: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig thought about how Xander had described the academy, he was happy about this he would finally be able to be himself. "Yeah they probably would but not all of them, my mum and younger brother is human," he stated.

message 15: by Mel (new)

Mel "And they took it well?" He frowned slightly. "I was under the impression all humans were repelled by us. And then there's the hunters. Who give a new meaning to the word 'hate'." Xander remembered the hunters just fine.

message 16: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig nodded, "My ma knew before I did and my little brother was pretty shocked but he calmed down eventually." Padraig frowned at the word hunters they had killed his dad when he was only one, "Yeah god why do they hate us so much its not like we've done anything wrong just been different!" Padraig ranted.

message 17: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander regarded him calmly, emotion drained from his expression. "Humanity is afraid of different. They are afraid of what they can't control. The hunters despise us, and because of this, we will always be at war with them." The fiery glint of hate in his eyes. The taste of murder, rolling off him like waves through the air... Xander pushed these thoughts away.

message 18: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Suppose, I've been hearing about a battle or something I've just arrived so I don't know what's going on is it true?" Padraig asked he hated the hunters but he didn't want to go to war he had so much to live for.

message 19: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander gave a short nod. "The battle is quickly approaching." He closed his eyes for a minute and then straightened, gaze traveling around the sitting room for something to busy himself with. He strode across the room picking up his sketchbooks, which lay scattered all over the coffee table. "I intend to fight."

message 20: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig nodded, "I do too," he said confidently, "Those damn hunters arnt gonna win, I'd rather die than live to see what they would do to us if they won," and he meant it hunters inhumane and he'd do anything to stop them.

message 21: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander's brow furrowed. He eyed Padraig dubiously. He thought of the burly, clever hunters armed with weapons, a lifetime's experience. A burning, vengeful rage that could not be contained. "How old are you, kid?"

message 22: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig felt a bit embarrassed but he didn't back down and he was still going to fight, "Fourteen," he said wincing a little waiting for Xanders reaction he knew it wouldn't be a good one he would probably rant on about how he was too young and that he didn't know what he was getting himself into blah blah blah but he did know what he was getting himself into and thats what scared him.

message 23: by Mel (new)

Mel "Fourteen," Xander repeated. He sighed, then nodded to himself. "Alright, look." His eyes met Padraig's, their silvery gray seeming to sharpen. "I'm not going to tell you what to do with your life," he started. "But this is your life you're talking about. Hunters do not have mercy, okay, they don't have regrets. It doesn't matter how young you are. They do not hesitate to slaughter, and they cannot be reasoned with. Most of them were born into the life, lost family to people like us. They are experienced and vengeful." He paused, staring calmly at the boy. "Can you honestly look me in the eyes, and tell me you can fight these people, survive a battlefield full of them?"

message 24: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig listened carefully to what Xander had to say, "Honestly I can't tell you that I'll live through it but but I will fight against them, they killed my da before I even got to know him, they've attacked our kind since forever and we don't deserve that, so you know what I am goina fight," Padraig rambled he was fighting in this war wether Xander liked or not.

message 25: by Mel (last edited Jul 20, 2013 11:12AM) (new)

Mel Xander regarded him unwaveringly. "I doubt your father would have wanted you to give your life up to war. Especially since you claim to be doing it for his sake. Your father is gone, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. No amount of revenge can change that. You can't make peace with death during war. If every supernatural gambled their life away for revenge, we'd be extinct already."

message 26: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig thought about this for a while, "I'm not doing it for revenge I'm doing it for all the other supernaturals so they don't have to live in fear of being found or they're family being killed, before I came to.this school I was constantly moving and could never make any friends or have any fun I had to stay at home all the time and no else should habe to go through that," Padraig said calmer this time.

message 27: by Mel (new)

Mel A sigh once again escaped his lips. Resignedly, he lifted his stack of sketch books into his arms. There wasn't much he could say to convince a stubborn fourteen-year-old boy fixated on an impossible dream. He began gathering together some pieces of drawing charcoal, absently. "Can you fight?"

message 28: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Yeah," Padraig replied, he sighed he knew he was being stuborn and he knew what he had just aaod was impossible he was a realostic person and he knew there would always be hunter but you had to start somewhere. He fixed his attention on what Xander was about to draw.

message 29: by Mel (new)

Mel {He wasn't going to draw anything, I was just having him clean up the sitting room while he's talking. Just because.}

"How well?" Xander drilled. "Have you ever been in combat before?" He stopped, mulling something over in his mind. "You've been accepted into the school for a reason," he went on. "What is it?"

message 30: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Well I got my second dan in Tae-jitsu," Padraig looked up at Xander he sighed and stood up, "I'm a werewolf," he said, "What about you?" Padraig was curious to find out what Xander was he didn't have much interaction with many other supernaturals so he was looking forward to his time at this school.

message 31: by Mel (new)

Mel "Me? A raven hybrid," Xander said. "I have retractable wings." He dismissed it quickly, not comfortable with talk of himself. "If you're going to fight, remember this- Your strength is in your species. Can you shift at will, or do you have to rely on a lunar cycle?"

message 32: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Cool," Padraig nodded, "At will," Padraig said. He sensed it was a bit awkward so he tried to tried to change the subject, "So do you know who else lives here," Padraig shrugged. He had seen another bedroom as he came in he wondered what they would be like.

message 33: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander didn't press the subject change, knowing there was nothing left to say. "Lives in this dorm? Well, there's a girl. Her room is right there." He gestured to the door on the other side of Padraig's. "Her name is... Phoebe, I believe. We aren't very well-acquainted."

message 34: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments He saw that Xander had realised he had changed subject but he went along with it, "Wait two boys and one girl that might be a bit awkward for her don't you think." Phoebe, Padraig thought, "Have you talked to her yet or met her?" Padraig questioned.

message 35: by Mel (last edited Jul 21, 2013 06:54AM) (new)

Mel "I don't know what she thinks of the rooming situation," Xander replied. "We've simply both gone about our business. Perhaps I'll formally meet her soon." Despite being very observant of people, Xander was far from being a social person. It was surprising he'd had a continuous conversation with the boy.

message 36: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments Padraig nodded, "So do you know what classes I should go to and is there a timetable I haven't been given one," he wanted to get started as soon as possible. He stood up and started unpacking his bag he didn't have many clothes with him at the moment the rest would come in the post.

message 37: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Phoebe walked into the dorm with Nate behind her. She admired the sitting for a second then went into her own room. She hated to be making a mess already but she slipped off her shoes and placed them beside her bed. "Well, here we are." Phoebe's suitcase was on the bed. Her other belongings were in a box on the floor. She wanted it to look roomy before she did anything else.

message 38: by Jenna ⭐ (new)

Jenna ⭐ (sungkew) Following Phoebe into her room, Nate stood by the door with his hands in his pockets. "Nice." He commented, admiring the undecorated room. It was pretty nice with its white walls and light colored wood flooring - nicer than his anyways. His dorm room was some what of a mess as of right now. When he went back, he'd have to try and straighten it up a little. Nate knew though that that most likely wouldn't happen; like a little kid, he still hated cleaning his room.
Walking over to one of the boxes, he stood there kind of awkwardly, "So," He looked around a little before his eyes rested on hers, "Should I just start unpacking stuff or...?" He trailed off, not knowing what the or was for.

message 39: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Phoebe smiled. Nate was so awkward. "Yeah. There's just some books in there and pictures." She said pictures quietly. She had pictures of her parents in the box. It reminded her of her loss. She would just have to grin and bear it. Maybe Nate wouldn't ask any questions. She thought the possibilities of that were pretty slim though.

message 40: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander answered Padraig's question halfheartedly. "There are various classes to take at this school. I doubt there's any kind of schedule, as attendance doesn't seem to be very mandatory. I don't really know how this school system works..."

message 41: by Jenna ⭐ (new)

Jenna ⭐ (sungkew) Nate nodded and started to pry open the box. It was taped though and as he looked around for scissors, he realized she probably didn't have any if her stuff wasn't even unpacked. Finally, after a minute maybe, he got the box open. "Yes!" He exclaimed, opening the box, "Finally. God, who knew these would be so hard to open..." As he picked out some stuff, his hand clasped on a picture of a man and a woman, "Huh..." Nate said, examining it, "Is this your..." He glanced over at Phoebe and then thought about what he'd been about to ask. A lot of the people here didn't have parents anymore; what if Phoebe was the same way? He started to lower the picture, "Sorry, I'm being nosy. I'll just go back to unpacking and not asking."

message 42: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Phoebe got a look at the picture before Nate put it back. She felt that familiar pain again. She looked away. She opened her suitcase and started pulling out clothes. She only pulled out her outfits. She didn't want any of the personal stuff being seen.

message 43: by Jenna ⭐ (new)

Jenna ⭐ (sungkew) Noticing the way Phoebe adverted her eyes, Nate cringed a little. Touchy subject... He thought to himself, pulling out some stuff and setting them in the appropriate locations. He hoped he was putting stuff where she wanted but if he wasn't, all she'd have to do was move it around later. At least he was getting the stuff out of the boxes. Come to think of it, Nate thought it was a little different how she only had a suitcase and a box. When he'd moved in, he'd taken like three boxes of stuff, "Light traveler, huh?" Nate asked, just trying to make conversation. He didn't want it to be awkward after that hit and miss blow he'd just taken with the picture.

message 44: by Olivia (new)

Olivia "Oh. Yeah." She answered his question without turning around. She chuckled a little. "I don't like having to carry a bunch of stuff. I only bring stuff I can't live without." For most people, stuff they couldn't live without was everything. Phoebe was good at sacrificing.

message 45: by Jenna ⭐ (new)

Jenna ⭐ (sungkew) "Well, that's good actually. I bring my entire house everywhere I go. I can't bare to be without my Xbox for a day." He smiled but he wasn't joking in the slightest. His Xbox was like life itself. If he lost that, he'd probably die of a heart-attack. "I'm sure I'm legally considered a pack-rat. I keep everything."

message 46: by Niámh (new)

Niámh | 271 comments "Oh well I guess I'll just have to find my own way around here," Padraig sighed. Padraig heard someone come through the door, "That must be our other roommate then," Padraig stated. He wondered whether he should introduce himself he decided to leave it for a while she was probably unpacking and he didn't want to intrude.

message 47: by Olivia (new)

Olivia The possibilities of Nate's statement made Phoebe curious. "You keep everything?" She imagined him having toys he played with when he was a kid all in some box. She giggled to herself a little.

message 48: by Jenna ⭐ (new)

Jenna ⭐ (sungkew) Nate nodded, "Everything." He then proceeded to rattle off a list of the things he currently kept or collected, "Old stuffed animals, clothes that don't fit but can't bring myself to get rid of, old action figures, broken cds, old VHS tapes that I've had since I was like five even though I have the movie on DVD..." He paused, unable to name anymore at the moment, "Pretty much everything. Its like an antique store in my dorm room, I swear."

message 49: by Mel (new)

Mel Xander gave an absent nod, distracted. A feeling abruptly struck him, tugging at the corner of his mind, getting stronger and stronger by the second. Not now, dammit. He fought inwardly to shut it out. Reality, concentrate on reality...

message 50: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Phoebe finally turned around. "That actually sounds cool." Phoebe liked antiques and was a fan of VHS tapes. All of the best old movies were on VHS. "It's not terrible to be a packrat. I regret throwing away stuff all the time." She had a deeper connection with the things now that they were gone. "At least you don't have to worry about that stuff."
