rēgan wildcard cowger Hi all,
I LOVE the Robert Langdon books, the page turning THRILLS along with the research/history/religious aspects (even the pieces that don't jive with my beliefs)!
Does anyone know of an author that produces novels to the same caliber of this kind of writing? I must admit, I'm new to the thriller/mystery genre but LOVE the intensity of these books. Thanks!!

Mike Sawson | 29 comments Try Steve Berry, not quite as good though. Have you read Dan Brown's earlier 2 novels before Langdon? Deception Point is amazing and his 1st one, Digital Fortress, is about the NSA collecting secrets similar to what Edward Snowden has revealed recently.

rēgan wildcard cowger Yes I read those two books, also! Thanks... I will look into him!:-)

B. Howerton | 3 comments You may want to check out my upcoming book The Gravettian Goddess. I intentionally wrote it in the style of Dan Brown, but the mysteries I explore go much deeper in time than the ones he writes about.

I will be publishing it on Amazon Kindle soon. I have posted the first five chapters here: http://gravettiangoddess.com/2013/11/...

I would love feedback from people if you think those chapters are interesting, and if you would want to read more. Thanks for your time.

Hi Regan,
I would recommended trying James Rollins. He tends to write in the similar genre. Wishing you all the best! :)

If you want a serious novel about the oldest philosophical topic under the sun, faith v logic, I unashamedly nominate my new one 'SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST'. The publisher's blurb actually says "falls within the spaces between Dan Brown and Richard Dawkins." It depicts one of the most famous examples of that conflict, the one within the Darwin household, where Charles's wife Emma, a devout Christian, edited all his scientific work whilst having to contain her own fears for his soul as his atheistic convictions developed. The book concerns a modern day detective search for a secret Addendum to 'Origin of Species' in which Charles Darwin explains his own scientific reasons for his disbelief in the existence of God, but which he never published in his lifetime for fear of adding to the controversy he had already created. You can read more about it, and even see an extract on its website (http://sbpra.com/robinhawdon). It is of course on Goodreads.
And to see Darwin's contribution to the group from beyond the grave go to www.charlesdarwinblog.com!

B. Howerton | 3 comments Dan Brown fans: I just published my novel Gravettian Goddess on Amazon Kindle. I'd be happy to send a review copy to anybody who agrees to review it here and on Amazon Kindle. Visit my blog at http://gravettiangoddess.com/ or email me at gravettiangoddess@gmail.com

http://www.amazon.com/Gravettian-Godd...

Book description: What if the Holy Grail were real? What if people could truly live forever? Gravettian Goddess will appeal to fans of both The Da Vinci Code and Clan of the Cave Bear. It is the story of Greg Janeszco, a self-made internet multi-millionaire with a penchant for archaeology, who discovers a mystery that reaches back into the dim mist of prehistory, when humans first migrated into Europe at least 40,000 years ago during the ice age and created the wondrous cave paintings found there. Can he solve the ancient riddle before the pursuing members of a shadowy international organization, who want to exploit the find for their own dark purposes?

Dustin | 1 comments I've never really been much of a reader until I found Dan Brown's novels. After I read Da Vinci code, I couldn't stop reading his books and finished them all. That was a few years ago and until recently I didn't have another author that I enjoyed as much.

Then someone suggested Matthew Fitzsimmons. I have really enjoyed reading his books, almost as much as Dan Brown. But there's one problem. He only has four books and I've already almost finished all four. (if you've not read his books you should try them!)

Does anyone have a suggestion of an author that is similar to these two?

What I like about these authors? Mostly I like their writing style. Their chapters are relatively short. They typically maintain 2 or 3 primary story lines or arcs, jumping between each one until later in the book as they all merge together. The story lines are generally action packed or somewhat fast paced with drama. They aren't overly descriptive about scenes, or minute details, which would tend to lose my attention or make me bored. I really like that they take place in real life locations, and they describe the locations in accurate detail (like describing locations in Rome, or in Portugal).

I also like that they follow a main character. It creates somewhat of a bond with that character and a nice transition from book to book.

Any one have any suggestions? I'm going to be done with this last book (Debris Line) in a few days and have really enjoyed reading (surprisingly). It'll be a real bummer to not have a new book to pick up.

Thanks in advance for any help!
Dustin
