Welcome to the new group. I have created this group so that we as authors can pass around tips, ask questions, and talk about our books. There are so many pages to the introduce self place- this is kind of a special one for new authors, or one that might be on page 6 hidden within the depths of every introduction. ;)

I wish I could pin this welcome post- but do feel welcomed, and at ease! We are nothing if not respectful to each other.

Little intro about myself. My name is Kerry Morgan, Indie author of books that I just, I feel are so important, and I'd like, I ask, for any suggestions on how to get the word out.
My series beginning with the Spirit Dragon, is to entertain young readers, really any age, like anyone can read Harry Potter or C.S. Lewis and enjoy it- with adventure and mystical creatures and all those wonderful things; but also maybe learn a bit about bullying and how to deal with it. Maybe find some answers about their own self esteem.
I am working really hard and have passed a couple steps to get the first two books into the middle school in my area, as part of their curriculum.
Another wonderful author, and incredible person in general, the Assistant Principal of the HS read the books and said he was "deeply moved". Since then he has decided to help try to get these books where they might really be helpful. Right inside the schools where a lot of bullying happens.

But when it comes to young readers or books that are written for young readers but any age would enjoy... How do you spark interest, so that people will look at the book, maybe even (gasp) buy it to get the message.

My reviews are few but great. I've given away several with promises of reviews which didn't happen. I have both books as a give away here.

I blog, I have an author page at FB and a regular page I promote with. I review for others in hopes they will review for me too.

But what about the author who is just browsing around Amazon? Or Barnes n Noble, How can we get our books noticed?

What have other authors tried to generate success?

At the present time I am waiting for that extra 25 I could actually spend on createspace to have these books put in the book stores- (however I am out of work with a back injury thus can only afford essentials but it's coming!)

Any thoughts are welcome-
Kerry Morgan

( Please feel free to post your own topic as well- or comment- I'm not familiar with the way these forums works- if you can post a new "thread" as your own- or it just keeps going inside one- bear with me as I learn please. ;) )

S. Hartley (shartley) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Sabrina. I have always loved to read, but just recently tried my hand at writing. I have finished two books, different series, but have not published yet... I am completely new to this world, so I am also looking forward to learning from the input of others.

Thanks! :)

Hi Sabrina!

Congratulations on the completion of your works!
That alone is a huge deal so relish that!

Welcome to the group and feel free to ask for that input and add your own!

Cristina Neto | 1 comments Hello
I'm new on the publishing world.

Fifty years ago my Mother wrote a children's book , but never published it.
Now we, her daughters, would like to publish it, and this is the reason why I found out about Goodreads.

It's been a wonderful surprise to see how many authors and readers can come toghether so easily.

Now i'm going to inform myself about the technicalities of self publishing, in portuguese, first, then on the other languages into which we've translated the book (italian, french and spanish; looking for an english translator).
This is all new to me....
any suggestion on where to start, please?
Thank you , from the heart!

Cristina

Leo Borgelin Hi,

I am an aspiring writer. I'm not an actual writer, but I do do a good job at it. I write creatively and have a book coming out soon called The Sun Came Through My Window to Say Hello.

Leeza Wilson (leezatheauthor) | 3 comments Hello.

I'm a new indie author. I published my first book last October. I'm getting ready to publish two more. One of them is a poetry book that will be in Russian and English. I really need some honest opinions on the cover for the book. And I will be needing a couple of beta readers soon for that one and the sequel to my debut novel.

Leo Borgelin Seems exciting Elizaveta. I can't read Russian, but I'll be more than glad to try out the English portion. What genre?

Hi Lin. The poetry book is the only one, for now, that is bilingual. I'm writing my series in English. The genre for my series is a romantic saga that has some suspense and the main character is in the Russian Air Force and a spy. His love interest is an American girl who travels to Moscow. Book one is Moscow Express.
Thank you for your interest. If you think you may want to beta read the sequel I can send you book one so you can be up on the story.

Leo Borgelin I'm interested. I have to warn you though I tend to keep myself busy and won't be able to provide it a fast read. Slow and steady, preferably. I may also need you to do check ups to make sure I'm reading, aka remind me because I'm really busy. But I will do my best.

Thanks Leo,
Which one were you interested in reading, the poetry book or the novel? The poetry book is much shorter. There are only 50 poems in it.
