I love your synopses Jim. One big reveal in this section regarding his parentage that I thought was pretty interesting then just left to lie. Rushdie seems to have a lot less cynical style than most of the books I've been reading lately.
I agree, a great synopsis! It really struck me reading this section of the book, today, just how masterful the writing is. Rushdie weaves through and bounces around so many strands without mislaying a single thread. I am totally immersed in the story now. The obvious foreshadowing technique he uses throughout ("...who later, will") has me hooked. I look forward to unravelling the storylines so I can see how all those captivating little tidbits come to fruition. It's a fun puzzle of sorts, and I like puzzles!

After the vision of the Black Mango, Saleem hears the voices of the Archangels and his father smacks him into a new green-sharded guardedness. Gaining control over his private radio station, Saleem becomes a clock tower tourist. Evie rolls into town and Saleem hears the here-I-am signals. Crashing into the crowd, little Saleem incites a riot. On his 10th birthday, Saleem creates the M.C.C.
