What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I don't remember much about this one. Main character is a male, a scientist, I think. A nuclear attack is imminent and a group of selected people are taken to an underground facility without a chance to gather personal items, bring along loved ones or anything. I think it's built below the Rockies.
The only standout detail I recall is that there is a huge amount of music on the loudspeaker system with no piece or song repeating at first. The hero wonders if it is endless, but it does start to repeat after a long period, like a month or more.
I read this probably before the early 90s.

The music aspect sounds very familiar, but I'm not sure where I read it. Is it Level Seven? This doesn't totally fit as the main character isn't a scientist and the location of the bunker is never given.

I'm going to guess that it is "Level 7", the music thing fits perfectly
