Will Davis | 3 comments Since the summer of reading is nearing the end, many of us have read books of different categories, what is your favorite and favorite category to read in?

lisa | 3 comments My favorite genre is reading a biography. It's fun to read about someone else and their experiences.

message 3: by Angie (new)

Angie Carpenter (supermomma) | 1 comments I usually love fantasy books, but am kind of getting tired of vampires and zombie stuff. So far this summer my favorite read (not in that category so much) is Inferno, by Dan Brown. Although, The Heist by Janet Evanovich was a great tie!!!

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (queenrachel) | 4 comments I can't even choose! This summer I have been on a romance reading run, but normally I love historical fiction. However, I read A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness this summer, and I fell in love! It had just about everything I look for in a book! Angie-I enjoyed Inferno as well. It was very thought provoking. However, I love everything of Dan Brown just about!

message 5: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (pulsatillagirl) | 2 comments I have been reading a lot of fantasy this summer, (as always) and I have absolutely become hooked on Fairy Tale Retellings. I especially enjoyed Violet Eyes, and Wild Orchid from the Once Upon A Time series.
Jessica Day George's Princess series, and Sun and Moon Ice and Snow, were fabulous.

Rachel (queenrachel) | 4 comments Alyssa, those are wonderful as well. I read them all last summer. I love fairy tale retellings!

Alyssa (pulsatillagirl) | 2 comments Rachel, Have you tried Robin McKinley's "Rose Daughter", and "Beauty: a retelling of Beauty and the Beast"?

message 8: by Adri (new)

Adri (adrizzell) | 1 comments it's been about 12 months since this feed was started. so what have you read this summer? :-)

message 9: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda Barrow | 1 comments My favorite book this summer has been The Selection by Kiera Cass. I loved it! I have the next two books on hold at the library. I have really been liking YA dystopian novels lately.

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (queenrachel) | 4 comments The Selection is on hold for me. I cannot recommend "Shades of Milk and Honey" by Mary Robinette Kowal enough! I tell everyone I know about it! Her book, and her next 3 books (Glamour in Glass, Without a Summer, and Valor and Vanity) are beautifully written, fun, romantic, magic, exciting.

208bookgirl | 2 comments I finished the "All Souls" triology by Deborah Harkness... and it was fantastic! Such a sweeping story about science, history, witchcraft, vampires, and demons. It's all tied together with treachery, alliances, and a little romance among the creatures.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ My favorite genres are: fantasy, historical fiction fiction, manga, non-fiction, and young adult.
"Keepers of the Lost Cities" is my favorite series of all time and so is "Adventurers Wanted".

message 14: by R.E. (new)

R.E. Banks I love edgy fantasy and sci-fi, romance, nonfiction (anyone crazy for Steve Sheinkin?) and Sherlock Holmes. Old books are fun but challenging. Especially Wives and Daughters since it was written in the 1860s. Oh, and it's 900 pages. I enjoyed every minute of it.
The Blackthorn Key is good also.

message 15: by Charity (new)

Charity I really enjoy reading fantasy that has a little bit of romance on the side. I also love reading mysterious too. I like books that can hook you on on the very first page and keep you on the train for the entire ride (which in my case, having a lot of action in it ^^).

message 16: by R.E. (new)

R.E. Banks Oh yes lots of action is great and being hooked on the very first page is my goal for my book I'm editing!

message 17: by Emily (last edited Aug 24, 2016 12:37PM) (new)

Emily Vanmiddendorp Fantasy is the genre I read most this summer :) My favorite probably was - The Two Princesses of Bamarre

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ I've been reading a historical fiction about Mary, Queen of Scots. So far it's been interesting enough and I'm thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.

R.E. Banks Basically all I did yesterday was read A Study in Scarlet, The Sign Of Four, and A Scandal in Bohemia. (All from Sherlock Holmes.) I'm looking for a good clean book (like Robin McKinley's Beauty) but I can't find any that are written in the 2000s. Any suggestions?
(I don't like cuss words.)
