Hunger Games! discussion

Rory walked in and headed to what it would be his room for the next few days and sat on the bed looking at the wall.

Aries: I walk into my room. There's a bed bigger than my bedroom at home, windows that overlook the Capital. There is a door to my right that contains another large room, a bathroom, with a shower and bathtub that are huge. The only "bathroom" we have at home is a tiny sink, a water pump and an outhouse. We are a poor family. Leaving them will be hard. Very hard. I sit on the plush, soft bed and think of all the horrible events that will occur in the next few weeks, if I make it that far.

I walk over to the armoire and take in the options. I choose and change into an emerald green dress. I walk over to the bathroom and splash water on my face. I take a deep breath and walk across the hall to the other tribute from my district. I knock on the door.

Aries: "Rory? Are you in there? Can I come in? It's me Aries. From your district. I just want to talk."

*knocks on door almost crying*

Ally:"ARIES ARIES!!!!"

Ally:"HELP"

Rory: He made a sound of affirmation, but not a word.

Aries: "What the...? Ally? Is that you? Where are you? Ally!!" I scream at the door. "Ally!!"

Aries: "Rory? Please!! I went to your school!! Don't you remember me?? PLEASE! Can't we talk?"

Rory tried to sound as loud as he could "I said yes!"

Aries: "OK!! Can you open the door?" I awkwardly ask. I'm not very good at talking with boys, since I had only one or two girl friends.

Rory gets up and walks to the door, he stretched a little before opening, he ahd been sitting for several hours, not moving a muscle "Hey" he said when he opened.

Aries: I stand there motionless. He looks gorgeous. He looks older since I saw him two years ago at school. "Uh. Hi! I'm Aries." I stumble on my words.

"I know" he said "Can I help you with something?"

Aries: "Look. I need your help."

"Sure, come in" he said walking and sitting in the same spot as before.

Aries: "Can you he-" I hiccup and tears stream down my face. I can't stand to cry in front of him so I stare at my bare feet. I take a deep breath and look at him. "Look! I have siblings at home. Three brothers and two sisters. Two of them will be in the fishbowl next year. Another older sister that never had to go through," I gesture to, I guess everything, with my arms. "Never had to go through this."

Aries: I walk into the room and sit on a plush chair across from Rory. The tears steam down my face at a rapid pace. Before I know it I'm balling my eyes out. Right in front of Rory too.

Rory wlaked around, poor girl, she seemed pretty scared about all of this, he walked towards her and put an arm around her back "There, there" he had no idea what to do in this kind of situation.

Aries: I wrap my arms around him and bury my face in his chest. I sob into his shirt some more.

Rory looks down at her and hugs her back "Emm, are you okay?" he said sounding concerned, hoping she was fine. But who could be? They were going to the Hu(n)ger Games.

Aries: I think briefly to myself. I sigh deeply. Should I tell him. "Look. My older brother." I choke back a sob. "Five years ago, when I was ten. My older brother, Kyle, h-he was chosen for the Hunger Games. And the Peacekeepers they made us watch the entire thing. Until the very end." I rush the words out my mouth. As if it would make it any easier.

Rory remebered the guy, it must be pretty hard for the family to have several children chosen on the reaping day, but eh still dind't understood why coming here and tell him.

Aries: "And my mother refused to watch and started a riot. Do you remember that? When the Peacekeepers had to kill a whole bunch of civilians, including my mother. Well my father took it hard. And that same day..." I cry again and mumble into his shirt. "Later that same day, Kyle was killed. Stabbed to death by some kid from District 2."

"I'm so sorry Aries" that probally didn't fixed a thing, but what else could he said? Part of her family died because of the stupid Hunger Games.

Aries: "Ever since then my father was forced to teach us to survive to protect ourselves. Kyle, he died within the first day. I-I just don't want to die like that. I want to die with purpose. If I have to leave my father and brothers and sisters, I want them to remember me as the sister that might've had a chance. But I know I won't go back. I'll never see them again and there's nothing I can do about it."
I clutch at his shirt for support and can feel my legs slip out beneath me. If his arms weren't around me, I would've collapsed.

Rory takes her on his arms "Do you want me to do something about that?" he said hating more than ever the Capitol.

Aries: I nod my head slightly not really knowing what to expect.

"Well then, you should stop crying and get over yourself, the prep team will be here soon" he always was hard on others, when they just meet at least "Do you have a plan for the Arena yet?"

Aries: "Nope." I sniffle a little and step away from him. I take a seat on the plush couch. "Just run and find water. Survive as long as I can..."

"That's better than nothing" he siad in a shrug.

Aries: "Ya know what? We should work together. During the Games. Do you know Ally? She and I are allies so maybe us three can be a team. You're strong and it'll give us an advantage. Don't give me that look, I've seen you carrying huge bags of seeds. You don't get muscle from no where."

Aries: "Please?"

Rory thought for a little "I don't know Aries, I don't know Ally, I can tell you after the training if you want." he still was thinking about what she said, how had she noticed he could carry seedbags easly?

Aries: "fine whatever." I get up from where I'm sitting and walk quickly towards the door. I throw the door open and turn towards Rory, say, "I'll see you at the Parade," and walk quickly towards the hall, leaving his door open. I throw open the door to my room and slam the door shut behind me. I am crying again and I collapse onto the plush bed.

Aries: After crying myself to a sleep, I wake up to a low rumble in my stomach. I've felt this before. Hunger. I'm used to it by now after years of scavenging for food after Kyle and my mother died. I walk over to the door and open it silently, careful not to wake Rory; whatever time of the night it is. I see that his door to his room is still open. I peer inside to see no one in there. I shrug to myself and drag myself to the dining room on our floor for something to eat.

Aries: Startled, I notice someone else is in the room. I peer around the corner and see....

The prep team squeals when they enter and rush to greet them. "Hi! You must be Aries! We'll be your prep team, it's so great to meet you!" They all shout, ushering him in.
