Back in the '90s L.J. signed an writer for hire contract with Alloy, meaning that even though she writes the books and comes up with most of the stuff, she doesn't own any of it. This contract only applies to The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle series. She got fired because she refused to cooperate with Alloy, She still owns The Wildworld, Night World, Forbidden Game and Dark Visions series.
Shannon, you forgot the Vampire Diaries

I Love the Vampire Diaries. I can't believe she got fired and doesn't own the series? Who's gonna make the college series??

The Ghostwriter for the new Secret Circle books -Aubrey Clark- is now writing the new Vampire Diaries trilogy "The Salvation."
