I will join this please. I have all three books and have read and enjoyed the previous two, but several years ago, so really should finish the job with the third instalment.
Brilliant. I think I'll make a start on this as soon as my children have gone back to school, so beginning of September!!!
Am I too late to join in on this? I've just downloaded "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". (99p at the moment on Kindle.)
Never too late Jean! They're a good price at the moment.
He was quite wordy at times and could have done with some serious editing but certainly knew how to tell a good story.
I agree, they are wordy, but equally fast to read, so the words just vanish. The first book had me absolutely on my uppers, could barely contain myself, had to read, read, read.... enjoy Jean.
Thanks Elizabeth and Jo - you've certainly whetted my appetite! If I get going on this in a couple of weeks and number 2 is a fast read too then maybe I'll be ready when you're all starting number 3.
I have read all if these and loved them. My advice to everyone though, when reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Is to not be put off by the first couple of chapters, I Almost gave up as it starts off very intense and a bit hard to follow, but SO glad I didn't! I've heard the same feedback from a few different people too.
About halfway through "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" now. (Annoyingly the kindle book is still shown as having pages, not percentages, so I can't record my progress!) Couldn't see what all the fuss was about in the first few chapters. It seemed to be very humdrum to me. More recently though it's becoming interesting!
Jean, I very nearly gave up at the beginning when I read these. I think it wasn't until chapter 3 where it became really interesting. Stick with it. It's worth it! I loved these books. Also, you can select percentages to record your progress as well as page numbers.
Yes I've managed to record percentages before but the 2 books I'm currently reading on Kindle are shown as having pages! Either they've been set up wrongly or I've forgotten to do something. (Can't see what though.)
I've read all three and they really could have done with a decent editor as there is a fair bit of waffle. But they are worth sticking with I promise, as the stories are fantastic.
Go Jean, you're in now and there's no getting away! So addictive. Can't wait to read the third book.
Love these books. Might pick them up again and join in. Will depend on my house move though.I'm having trouble keeping up with what "reads" are happening and when lol
I shall be making a start on The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest this week. 743 pages. This could take me some time!
This book is giving me serious thumb ache! Just borrowed an ebook from the library instead, and downloaded onto my Kobo :) Must read quicker, though, as the library has only given me until 1st October then they take it back.I am struggling to remember who everyone is, and the cast list is immense. Have been googling for a cast list, and will need to keep that close by.
Elizabeth - must say you're putting me off a bit! My library book is huge (large print) and the spine is already broken, and noted so in the front. But I usually end up renewing my books online as it's so easy. Can't you do that?
I actually own the paperback copy but lugging it around in my handbag to read is pretty heavy! When you borrow ebooks from the library they can't be renewed, they just get deleted when time's up.
Oh I didn't know that! I wonder why.I haven't yet got round to asking the library how it all works. Don't fancy sitting in front of a computer to read, but am not sure if they'll send the ebook to my Kindle.
Oh dear, it's been over 18 months since I read book 2 so started book 3 with a bit of "what on earth is going on here?" but am enjoying so far!
I found that in the second book too and mentioned it in my review for The Girl Who Played with Fire!So it looks as though I might need to take notes when I start the third one!
I'm about 25% through, like Elizabeth said, too many similar names I can't work out who is doing what sometimes haha but enjoying it :)
The Stieg Larsson read along book thread is still open. We have just had a tidy up of the home page and marked the books as read, in order for the Group Read books to show up. But the read along is still running.
I'm still nerving myself up for the third one. It's sitting on the piano glaring at me and has already been renewed twice!

Be brave, Jean. I just had to find out how it all ended. I admit to skimming the dull bits that just rambled on but there's a decent story in there.
I feel the same way, Elizabeth. There's nothing worse that reading two thirds of a trilogy! Maybe I'll just have to read it alongside something else to get going - trouble is then it'll take me even longer! Hmm.

I am staggered you got through any of it, I didn't even manage the free sample on my Kindle without feeling very sad that I would never get that few minutes of my life back.

PS Jean and Elizabeth. I find that a bit frustrating as well. However, next year is my series reading/ finish a series year so I sleep easy at night thinking that 2014 is when it will all come good!
....don't worry Jo - I've redressed the balance - I've now read
My Granny Writes Erotica by Rosen Trevithick
Maybe "Shades of Grey" is the exception that proves the rule, Flo!Jo - which series? "Millennium" or "Shades of Grey"?!
