Alice flees the coop, the Sinai’s fly back to Bombay, Saleem’s parents’ love takes flight. A faux-picnic clears Saleem’s sinuses and dissolves the Midnight’s Children’s Conference. The family ping-pongs back to Pakistan, this time with papa in tow. Jamila the Singer rises to stardom through her perforated white sheet. War finds the Sinai family at home and ends their troubles. Five years fly by and Saleem becomes a tracking man-dog who can’t remember his name. Parvati-the-witch gives Saleem his name back and whisks him into India unseen.
