Loved this book, but really, what is with the comment

Ok. I really enjoyed this book and I really love Mason. Hope throws me with all the "cheese and rice" commments. Is this a common saying I just don't understand, is it local slang?? Just wondering.
By the way, did I mention I loved this book ;)

I think it's a polite way of saying 'Jesus Christ'.
