Every living person with a heart crys when he says always. oh and I love that gif.

Snape and Lily didn't belong together. She was getting out of an abusive relationship and it wouldn't have worked anyways.
But Severus, he's probably the most confusing and complex character in Harry Potter. He's first portrayed as "the bad guy", but then you find out he was saving lives. Then you see him meeting up with Voldemort in his service, but then it turns out he was playing a double agent. And you feel bad for him, because all throughout the course of his life, he was never understood. No one properly knew him or what he was doing.
He was alone his ENTIRE. LIFE. Who can blame him for trying to stick on to Lily, the one person who knew him slightly better than anyone else?
