Kayla Caudill I find Kinsey fascinating because I read a lot of murder mystery and she is unlike any other character I have read before and I love it I find her so refreshing. Anybody else have any thoughts in Kinsey? Sorry if someone else started this thread I'm new to the club.

I totally agree with you. She is interesting and does her own thing. She is individual and unique.

Liz I totally agree with you. In find a real emotional connection to the character . Graftons writing is wonderful. She's really great with character and scenes. They are so believable and also a sly sense of humor.

Jennifer (finegael) | 11 comments The Kinsey character acts like you would expect someone with her former cop background to act. I am turned off by heroines in books that behave in manners that no rational person would. Kinsey is believable.

Tyler (tyleralysea) I'm working my way through this series for the first time and I really enjoy her as a character. I'm on F right now and can't wait to see how she grows and develops!

B.j. | 6 comments I read the first book. A is for alibi. I didn't really like it. Am I the only one that didn't care for her books? Afraid to waste my time on another.

Beatrix | 1 comments B.J., I had the same reaction years ago. I haven't read any of her other books. We are the minority opinions though.

Beverly (bjbixlerhotmailcom) I am another who is fascinated by the Kinsey character. I like her independence and bulldog-like stubbornness which helps her solve her cases. Like me, she doesn't give a hoot about fashion, but wears what is comfortable and practical.
I have read all of Grafton's books to date, and finished W a couple of weeks ago.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ I only read the first book awhile ago but didn't get to read to the others but I am trying to get through this challenge and none of these books would help with the challenge. I do remember that I liked the character Kinsley and can't wait to start it again. I'm aiming for the beginning of the year because the last day of the challenge is December 31st.

Murrill | 11 comments I love Kinsey! I have read all of the books published up to this date (through W), and I think she is a work in progress. This is interesting to me because my professional background includes substance abuse counseling. Sue Grafton's biography mentions the significance that alcoholic family members have played in her life, and think Kinsey reflects her personal story. In the early books she is fiercely independent, as in "I don't need anybody!" Over time she accumulates a small but reliable network of friends. Still, she has some pretty definitive boundaries. She has many characteristics of someone who grew up in an alcoholic environment, although there is no evidence that she did. Aunt Gin seemed to have taught her pretty good manners, but she was short on affection. The early stories were driven by an interest in solving cases, but she did not have a personal stake in them beyond that. She likes tidy endings. Over time I think Kinsey develops a more personal investment with the marginalized people she meets: She wants to right the wrongs the world has dealt them. It seems she has begun to care for something beyond herself. She is discovering long-lost family members, and despite her ambivalence, she begrudgingly permits some attachment. I anticipate some significant changes in the upcoming books as Kinsey nears 40.
