Next week Tuesday (8/27) we will be showing a movie here at the library. Because of the terms of our movie license (which allows the library to show movies to the public) I'm not legally allowed to tell you the name of the movie on this website, but I can give you a description that should make our movie choice clear:
A reluctant halfling sets out on an unexpected journey to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug.
Tickets are required to attend this movie event. You can pick up free tickets at the Children's Desk anytime the library is open. Hope to see you there!

Don't forget that on the second Wednesday of every month teens are invited to play some Wii games at the library! Today we will be playing Mario Kart and Wii Sports Resort. As always, there will be snacks. See you there!
This Wednesday at 3:00 pm, our Teen Advisory Group will be meeting. As a group we will be putting together a book display for Teen Read Week featuring our favorite books. Come If you can, come to the meeting with a copy of your favorite book (or come prepared to find it on the library shelves).
Afterwards the Teen Book Club will be meeting to discuss the book This Dark Endeavor.
There will be snacks at both programs. Hope to see you there.

Speaking of Teen Read Week (Oct. 14-19), be sure to visit the library when you can and pick up a flier that talks about the special activities that we have going on during this week. There will be two contests at the library during this week:
1) Books Teens Love Raffle. Remember the book reviews posted in the YA area of the library? Fill out one of these review forms, attach a sheet with your full name and phone number, and drop it in the drop box during Teen Read Week. Two winners will be selected at random to win a book of their choice.
2) Coverflip Contest. Did you see the link that I posted awhile back about Maureen Johnson's Coverflip challenge? This YA author challenged all of her followers on Twitter to redesign the covers of their favorite books as if the author were of the opposite gender. For this contest, you are challenged to participate in the challenge by redesigning the book cover of your choice. One winner will be selected to win a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card. Entries must be submitted via e-mail no later than Monday, October 21 at 9:00 am, so start working on your book covers now!

Don't forget that this week is Teen Read Week! Visit the library and check out the special activities that are taking place this week.
Today (October 16) Teen Advisory Group and Teen Book Club are meeting at 3:00 pm. Today we will be brainstorming ideas for upcoming teen events. If you have ideas for a program, or if you want to veto my lousy ideas, or even if you just like snacks, then definitely come to TAG!
This week there are also two contests that you can enter for a chance to win great prizes. If you write a book review for us, you will be entered for a chance to win a book of your choice from our prize box. You can also enter the Coverflip contest (description in the post above) for a chance to win a $20 Barnes and Noble Gift Card.
On top of all that, there is a great book display set up with books that other teens have highly recommended. Be sure to grab one of these great books ASAP before they're all gone!

This Valentine's Day, be sure to visit the library and take part in the best part of the holiday: Chocolate! Teen Chocolate tasting is back by popular demand. First, we'll sample a few different types of chocolate and vote on our favorites. After that we'll have lots of other chocolate treats to try.
Registration is required to attend this event! Sign up at the Children's Desk starting on January 30. Get a friend to sign up with you - chocolate is way more fun with friends.

Do you have ideas for this year's Summer Reading Program? If you do, then be sure to come to next week's (January 22) Teen Advisory Group meeting. The #1 item on our agenda for this month is to discuss program and prize ideas for the 2014 Summer Reading Program. Last year TAG came up with some really awesome ideas that really made the program special. Can we do it again? TAG meets from 3:00-3:40 pm.
After TAG we will also be discussing our Teen Book Club pick of the month: Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I can't wait to talk about with book with those of you who have read it!

For the month of March, Teen Book Club will be having a Graphic Novel Extravaganza! We will be reading three graphic novels this month: Boxers and Saints by Gene Luen Yang, and Will Whit by Laura Lee Gulledge.
Since graphic novels are usually fairly quick reads anyone who wants to participate should have plenty of time to read all three books before we meet on March 26. If you find, however, that you're simply unable to read all three books then don't worry - just pick and choose the ones that you want to read. No worries.
Stop in at the library and pick up copies of the books as soon as possible from the Children's Desk!

On Wednesday, April 16 we will be showing a movie here at the library starting at 1:30 pm. This movie is based on the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy. (For legal reasons, I'm not allowed to post the actual title of the movie, but I'm sure you can figure it out.)
Everyone who wants to attend this movie MUST pick up a ticket in advance. Tickets are free and are available at the Children's Desk. Visit us ASAP to pick up your tickets!
As always, there will be snacks.

This month our Teen Book Club will also be doing something pretty special at our last meeting of the year on April 23. Our book for this month is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Pick up a copy of the book in advance at the Children's Desk.
At our book club meeting we will be watching the movie based on the book, staring Logan Lerman and Emma Watson. After watching the movie we will discuss both the book and the film. And as always, snacks will be served. Please come and join us!

Now that school is started, it's time to start thinking about Fall programs at the library. Teen Advisory Group and Teen Book Club will both be meeting on Wednesday, September 24 from 3:00-4:30 pm. At TAG we will be getting ready for some upcoming events, so come with lots of ideas!
This month Teen Book Club will be reading The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson. This book promises to be a quick but compelling read. Pick up a copy of the book ASAP at the Children's Desk.

Tickets are still available for those of you who want to join us for a movie event on Saturday, September 20 at 1:30 pm. I'm not allowed to tell you guys the name of the movie online, but I can tell you that the movie is based on the bestselling novel by John Green and stars Shailene Woodley.
Tickets are required to attend. Please pick up your FREE tickets at the Children's Desk.

Don't forget to visit the Pewaukee Public Library during the month of October to celebrate Teen Read Week with us. We have so much to celebrate that it cannot be contained to a single week and activities will be taking place all month long.
Cast your vote on three polls that we have posted in the YA area of the library. Then tell us a bit about why you voted the way you did to be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a $20 Half Price Books gift card.

Today (October 13) stop in after school anytime until 4:30 pm and try out a neat Sharpie Tile project. This project is doable even for the artistically challenged. Snacks will be served.
