Yay! Welcome, Josie & Vilda. :) Members may choose to sign-up as Level ⓸ and switch it later, if you find that you are able to read steadily for over 7 hrs a sitting. We're not holding anyone to their original level choice, just interested to see who's choosing what. Of course, you'll need to make sure that your total hours spent reading equal 24 by the end of the month. :D
Thanks, Josie, I wish I could say I made it, but I only added my own text to an existing picture.
Welcome, Belinda! :D Sounds good, Vilda. I actually deleted that comment thinking ... well duh, everyone's gotta read a total of 24 hrs by month's end anyhoo. But, then I realized, well, maybe some will start at ⓸ and find they can read all day/night no problem. So, I added it back. LOL! >.<
I'm definitely in, too. I'll let you know if I'm shooting for 3 days or not, once I look September over.
I'm not sure what I'll be doing in September (hopefully working!) but I'm going to put myself down for Option 2. Though quick question (I've never done a read-a-thon), do you get food breaks (vs snacks)?
Welcome, Daffodil, Paris & Danielle! :DLOL Josie! No worries. I'll put ya down for 2 and you can change as needed. And, yep! Food and breaks available --- assuming you buy it and take it. >;)
This may just be me being overly ambitious, but can we do more than one batch of 24 hours of reading?

Absolutely! :D
I'm in for ⓸ SLOW & STEADY: Four or more days (2-7h)...but as lots of things happening in September!
Lord to have more than two hours to read... I must be on a deserted island away from GR and my baby lol
I'm in for ⓸ SLOW & STEADY for sure but may bump up to ⓷ WILL WORK FOR BOOKS - will have to see how my month goes.
I'm in for SLOW & STEADY! I think I can find about 2 hours on the weekends to get some reading done!
Sandra wrote: "I'm in for ⓷ WILL WORK FOR BOOKS: Three days (8h) as well ;)"Maybe we can find some hours that overlap and chat/read together? :D

Holiday!! Yay! Gettin' closer ... and closer ... and, by the time you read this ... even closer! :D
Welcome, everyone! :D
I'm in - I think I'm going for Will Work for Books, but we'll see. It may change depending on what happens in RL.Love this idea!!
Welcome, Leslie! You're welcome to switch up your choice at any time, just let us know and we'll move ya.
I think I'm going to shoot for 3 Saturdays in September. My friend and I have been having Babylon 5 marathons on Saturdays, but we're in the last half of Season 5. We should be able to finish those, as well as the rest of the movies, over the next couple weekends. She's never seen them before and already wants to watch them again, but we'll just have to take a break. LOL. It is amazing how many little things take on new meaning when you see how they contribute to the final picture.
Gotcha. I'll put ya down for 3, but you can always switch it later. So true! ;) I've only watched a couple of eps of that. Might have to have a NetFlix marathon one day with the hubs.
Welcome, Lauren!LOL Josie! ;) Still a week before we get started. Never know. I'm still not sure which category I'll shoot for, maybe I'll jump on the two-day train w/ya.
I love the idea and since I've had my share of 24-hours straight I would have picked Do Not Disturb. Unfortunately the timing sucks since I've got my thesis to complete and hand in and finals (and I'm hoping the final finals, too!) in September so I'll have to pass... :(Maybe I'll join you all in the next round - October perhaps?
Happy reading everyone! *shuffles away to get buried under pressure while surreptitiously sending longing glances your way*
Josie wrote: "Yes, please do! :)"Waiting to find out hub's schedule for the month - hoping there are some long days/late nights I can spend reading. Sad, yah? LOL! Poor baby, I really do love him to death, but a girl's gotta RAT every now and again, ya know?! :D
Lauren wrote: "Thanks Steph - I love the no-pressure options :0)"
:D Me too! Miss Sandra's great suggestion.
Welcome, Rachel & Sherri!

During the month of September, SOS will be hosting a 24-hour Read-a-thon (RAT). We all have a mountainous to-be-read stack we'd love to topple. And, many have yearly challenges that are approaching the 3/4 mark. It's time to get those books read!
Not able to spend 24 hours doin' nuthin' but reading? Don't worry, most of us can't either. So, we're shakin' it up a bit and allowing members to tally up their read time to equal 24 hours.
Duration: September 1-30, 2013
Goal: Read for 24 hours during the month of September - easy and simple.
Rules: To make it a bit more exciting, in order for your reading time to count towards your 24, you must choose one of the options below to follow.
Reading Options (hours spent reading each sitting):
⓵ DO NOT DISTURB: One day (24h)
⓶ NOSE TO THE GRINDSTONE: Two days (12h)
⓷ WILL WORK FOR BOOKS: Three days (8h)
⓸ SLOW & STEADY: Four or more days (2-7h)
In order for time to count towards your 24-hours, steady reading must be done for 2 or more hours in one sitting.
✣ Sign-up below by stating that you would like to participate in the RAT and include which reading option you will be following.
✣ Track your reading throughout the month and, once you've reached 24 hours, share your results on our Final RAT Stats thread.
✣ Those participating are welcome to create a RAT thread (within the 24-hour Read-a-Thon folder) to use throughout the month to share your books, ratings & reviews, chat with friends, etc.
✣ You are also welcome to read along with a partner or group of people. However, each person must read a total of 24 hours to complete the RAT.
Once You've Reached 24 Hours: Post your final RAT stats here .
