Who's your favorite character?

In all of The Silmarillion who is favorite your character? I would have to say mine is Beleg Strongbow

My favorite character is Maedhros. I feel so sorry for him. All he wants to do is to please his father by meeting his exceptions. Unfortunately Maedhros can never be the skilled craftsman his father wants him to be. Because he desperately wants his father's approval he swears the oath and everything goes downhill from there. I hate it when people seem to think that Maedhros is the antagonist. He does not kill others because he wants to. He does it because his oath forces him to do so.

My favorite is Hurin Thalion, the Steadfast. He gave himself up to the hordes of Angband, knowing that he was going to die, so that Turgon could escape back to the Hidden Kingdom of Gondolin. What a battle scene that was!
And though he was tormented in captivity for the rest of his life by Morgoth, he never once wavered in his honor and integrity. We should all have friends like that.

Ulmo is probably my favorite character (always right and so, so wise), then Fëanor, Finrod Felagund and Luthien (and Beren).

So many great characters...but I like Fingolfin, Fingon, Maedhros, Galadriel, and it`s strange, but Feanor

Zofia von Huck I love Feanor too. Not strange. Or maybe we're all strange... ...more

I liked Beren and Tuor. I respect a character that earns his happy ending. I was also intrigued by the Feanor kids, Maedhros & Maglor, mostly due to how they react when they finally get what they want.

My favourite character is Feanor because of proud and rebellious nature and the fact he created the Silmarilli in the first place.

So far, it's Maedhros. Valiant and good at heart, but corrupted by the oath. His desperate searching for Elured and Elurin haunts me.

Second is his minstrel brother Maglor; the purest of all Fëanorions.

Probably Maeglin, he was very intriguing from the very beginning.

Feanor(i find him very intriguing),Luthien,Beren,Varda, and Earendil.

Ulmo is easily my favorite of the Valar, one of the only ones to actually try to help the peoples of Middle Earth. Turin was probably the most Conan-esque of all the characters in the Silmarillion. He even slayed a dragon. Glaurung has to be one of my favorite evil dragons, and his chapter is easily one of the scariest moments in the book.

Earendil is my absolute favorite !
But Huan anybody? Like whenever he spoke i would read the same thing twice!
Also he went against the prophecy of his own death and defeated sauron! Complete badass!

I think Melkor, the sons of Fëanor and Finrod Felagund are my favorite characters.

Melian, Luthien, Yavanna, Varda, and Beren. (At the moment.)

Glorfindel is a favorite (hence the profile picture), Fingolfin is legendary, Túrin is wonderfully complex, Morwen is beautifully imagined, how can I pick just one?

I'm glad nobody said Thingo! ( My least favorite character for sure! )

Favorites in order :
1. Feanor
2. Maedhros
3. Huan & Finrod

Definitely Feanor for me. Especially when he literally slammed the door in Melkor's face. Best scene in the whole book IMO.

1 Finrod Felegund!
2 Melian, Luthian, and Earendil
3 Huan and Fingolfin and Tuor
4 Finarfin and Varda

Fingolfin for sure.
Honorable mentions: Finrod Felagund, Turgon and Huor

Well... I think there's a lot of characters i truly adore, but i have no idea where to start... Whatever. I think of Luthien, Turin, Maedhros, Galadriel, Feanor (for sure) and Glorfindel. Yes. Definitely they are my favs

the most likely Eärendil due to his huge impact on the story by ending one of the greatest conflicts in midlle earth with such an epic way, but i also like Finglofin.

Fëanor - the creator of the Silmarils :)

I liked Feanor much in the same way I liked Vance's Cugel. Not really a character whom I can identify with but an intriguing and fascinating nonetheless.

Couldn't decide on one, so for me it is Feanor, Maethros, Hurin, and Maglor, as well as Fingolfin, Fingon and Nerdanel to a lesser extent.

Strange, there's surprisingly little love for Hurin the Steadfast here.^^

Glaurung! He was a villain but I find dragons and anything related to them fascinating!

Turin Turambar! the one and only!

Favorite character in Feanor, he is such a rebellious spirit! I also really like King Finrod, he slew a werewolf with his teeth, come on what's not to love about Finrod?

I will say though, that I think that Eol is one of the most interesting characters!

Tuor

Feanor and Turin

Above all, it was the image of Maedhros on Thangorodrim that stayed with me.

Maedhros
Turin
Thingol

Luthien is the champion of romantic devotion, so I would pick her. Followed by her dog Huan, who qualifies as the best guard dog of all time. I would name a daughter after Luthien if my wife would go for it.

It's hard to say, since The Silmarillion is very much not a character-oriented story. Most of the people don't really have individual personalities.

That said, I find Turin very interesting (though I don't really like him as a person). Among the elves, I think Finrod Felagund is one of the few who was both an individual and a decent one too.

Melian is the wisest & most sympathetic character, so let it be her. Among Men, probably Morwen or Hurin.

Outside the Sil proper: Isildur.
