~ Writing Help ~ "Help thy fellow writer, no matter what" discussion

Haveing a backstory is important, but don't write EVERYthing in the history.. i mean...let yourself develop it more before restricting yourself with a sigle history. Write it so that there would be room to change it and not in a way that you'll go 'no, i cna't change this, i already decided so in the history!'. Guys. History can be changed. Just go with the flow and let the history evolve. My historys are usually detailed at the start, and more general about the present time. Why should i change my STORY to so that it goes well with the history? Your history doesn't control you.

Name: Kyle Raince
History: (note hoe, even though it isn't part of the current story, i still added the history even though he doens't rememebr anything.) He has amnesia but he came from the future in order to stop a war.
Previous to story:
Alex and Kyle were abandoned in an orphanage when Alex was 5 and was 3 for unknown reasons, both their pparents had been teenagers according to Alex’s memory. Half a year later when their orphanage was going on a feild trip a group of boys got lost (Alex and Kyle including three other boys Alex’s age) ) . The boys found Elementum (Alex was attracted to the pentacle and ran over to the building, kyle followed, also slightly drawn, the three other boys followed. They sneak in through the back (up and over the fence) and they see Roald teaching kids around their age something. They sneak closer but they are spotted. The other three boys managed to escape and alex almost did too but kyle trips and gets caught by a 17 year old boy who was walking by. Kyle was fighting but he was too young and too weak to do anything. Alex ran and started hitting the 17 year old’s leg to try and let him go of Kyle but he wouldn’t so, unconsciously, Alex summons wind that knocks the teen over, freeing Kyle an dboth of them ran but are followed by the teen (ordered by Roald). They manage to find their way bac to the orphanage where everyone was waiting (the orph was close to Elementum). About a week later Roald turns up at the orph. Alex and kyle overhear the two talking ab out adoption and then alex gets adopted but he refuthses unless Kyle could come too and Alex acceptes. They lived in elementum’s dorms (diff. Location from ele but still close) . Roald became their father in more ways than adoption. When Kyle turned 10 he got into an argument with another boy and came down to fists, the boy was 12 years old (Neal XD!!). In anger Kyle summoned a wind stronger than the one that Alex had summoned as a child and he knocked Neal over, breaking his arm in the process. As the years went past he gained more and more power and it was officially said that his power was that of the main elemnt, air.
He was chosen for the project because Roald knew something about the past and knew that Kyle was important to lead the mission. He also had greta leadership skills and can make friends easily. When he was aroung 15 he met Seraphina and fell in love.

Name: Eric
History: Eric was born into an English family. He lived in England with his parents until at the age of 6 they move to America. His mum gave birth to a daughter soon after, turning into an older brother. He loved his family and his little sister. He made good friends with the kids in his primary school and he loved reading and the stars. He also had an older sister (JULIA!!!) who he looked up to and loved dearly even though she was only a year older than he was. At the age of 9 he and his sisters were home alone after their parents went out to celebrate their marriage anniversary. Their parents didn’t come home that night but they didn’t think twice about it. The next morning there was a knock on the door and Eric went to answer the door and saw two police men with grave expressions. (mini story, maybe like the demigod diaries). They told him that his parents were in a car crash and died on impact. Eric was in shock, Julia started crying as soon as she heard and the youngest, Lilly, who was only 4 only managed to comprehend that everyone was sad and that her mum wasn’t there and started crying. (lilly should have a story ^^). AT the funeral Eric was still in shock, lilly and Julia couldn’t stop crying. Only when the three siblings were separated did Eric start crying. They were each taken to different foster familys. Lilly was adopted into Neal’s family (XD!!) because after Neal his mother became baron due to something so they adopted her. Julia, as will find out in book 2, kept on switching from family to family until the event in book 2. Eric also went from family to family. However he still did well at school, got top marks, studied hard for every exam. This, and star gazing, kept his mind off his shattered family. He learnt karate and kick boxing and self defence as a way to keep any anger at life or survivor’s guilt controlled. One day he was invited to a garden party after getting top in science where kids who also topped the test or w/e came to get awards and snacks ^^. There he met someone from Elementum who he met in random. They started talking and asked each other about their school and stuff. At the end of the party and awards most went home but some stayed like Eric and the kid from Elementum. Some kids were beating him up (they were better at martial arts than him) for no reason. (this was at the age of 13). When he tried fighting back but failed his temper got high and he shouted out, tried to keep steady so he wouldn’t loose balance when they pushed him and a tree nearby responded to his anger and fear and swung its branch at the bullies. (he gets bullied often at school). The Elementum guy saw and told Roald who had come to pick him up. Roald explained to Eric about Elementum and how you needed to have powers to join. He hated his current family who always made fun of him so he secretly ran away to Elementum. He had been there until he went to the past. The guy who was at the party was Kyle who was there in place of his brother, Alex, who was off somewhere and couldn’t make it and they looked mostly the same so....^^ they became really close friends.
Other (this part is what happns in the story ^^): When it came time for the four to leave to the past Lilly came to say bye to Neal and Eric cried and was like ‘lilly!!” and identified her as his sister and he hugged her tightly and cried but knew that he had to leave so he sadly said bye. When Julia first saw Eric she begun crying and he saw and at first he didn’t recognise her and didn’t know why she was crying but then he saw that she wsa his sister ad he cryed too and hugged her and they spent a lot of time together, crying over Lilly and everyone was like?????.
