I used a tool called TweetAdder3 to automate some of my twitter activity last year.

I loved the tweet robot because it would automatically follow back people that followed me and it would automatically go out and look for followers with certain characteristics for me to follow - like people with "Author" in their decription. It also allowed me to have a set of posts that it would throw out during the day - I could set it all up in the morning, then run hands-free.

What has been your experience with twitter robots? Any?

Ever try hootsuite? That does automated posts for twitter, google+, and FB. I haven't got it totally figured out, but it works well enough.

I have been using TweetAdder for over a year and I love it. It helped me get to over 17,000 followers in about 6 months. However, because of how aggressive I had set it to add followers and follow back, I got into a bit of trouble with Twitter and they froze my account. I apologized and promised to play nice, so they unfroze my account and I have been more careful in how often I tweet and how often I seek new followers.

I love that I can enter tweets and set how often they go out, so I don't send them out too often and have people complain to Twitter about me. I pepper my book tweets with fun and inspirational quote tweets, and I try to actually have real interaction with people throughout the day, as well. But when I know I'm going to be gone or off writing for a number of hours, it's good to know the tweets I set up are still going out on a regular basis.

Hi Debra - I am also a TweetAdder users and wondering how to get past 5K followers - seem to be stuck there - twitter blocks me following anyone new. I'd love to know

Twitter usually blocks you if you are following more people than are following you. Go into your followers on Twitter and unfollow anyone you don't care if they follow you back. I'm looking for potential readers, so young men and business-type followers I unfollow. Also, anyone who is posting regularly in a different language I unfollow. That gives you space to add more people you follow.
