"The Forbidden Schoolhouse - The True and Dramatic Story of Prudence Crandall and Her Students" by Suzanne Jurmain
Prom Night from Hell is technically non-fiction. It's a great collection of short stories from Meyer, Cabot, Myracle, and more. It's a definite fun read.
just read Tasting the Sky- a Palestinian Childhood by Ibtisam Barakat. i recommend it. the Autobiography of Malcolm X is amazing.
the Persepolis graphic novels, the Maus graphic novels, and the graphic novels by Joe Sacco are all good non-fiction. and i just read the memoir Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and it was great.
Revolutionary Voices- A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology ed. by Amy Sonnie is good to check out, too.
War is-- : soldiers, survivors, and storytellers talk about war / edited by Marc Aronson and Patty Campbell is a new important book
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach is popular here. Also, Harry, A History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon by Melissa Anelli for an inside look at HP fandom, which I've heard is fascinating. :)

I was going to mention this one, but I it's not in our teen section at work. However, I think teens would like the quirky humor.
Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah (about child soldiers)and Tweak by Nic Sheff (his teen years on meth) and BlackOut Girl by Jennifer Storm (teen alcoholism and recovery)--our teens have enjoyed these nonfiction books--mostly autobiographies.
Has anyone read My Story "A Child Called It", "The Lost Boy", "A Man Named Dave" by Dave Pelzer? I have heard pretty good things about it and several friends have recommended that book to me.
Persepolis by Marjane SatrapiMaus by Art Speilgman
Things I have To Tell You edited by Betsy Franco
33 Things Every Girl Should Know edit by Tonya Bolden
Body Drama by Nancy Amanda Redd (FANTASTIC)This is not our Our Bodies, Ourselves. This rocks!
Sugar In The Raw edited by Rebecca Carroll
Dave Pelzer’s A Child Called It, The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave are very popular with our students. Additional nonfiction student favorites: Always Running / Luis J. Rodriguez
East Side Dreams / Art Rodriguez
The Freedom Writers Diary with Erin Gruwell
My Bloody Life / Reymundo Sanchez
Once a King, Always a King / Reymundo Sanchez
I Have Lived A Thousand Years: Growing Up In The Holocaust and Night are good ones about the Holocaust for teens. I've also read The Burn Journals which was a bit too honest for me, but still good for teens, especially boys. The author set himself on fire as a teen in a suicide attempt.
I just finished Three Little Words - a great memoir about a girl growing up in foster care. Loved the book - still hesitating about putting it in my 7th grade library as there is a scene where she talks about finding a nazi-themed porno while staying with one of her foster families - she describes the scenes with some detail.Really good story though - really makes me want to become a foster parent!
