I was thinking a book a month. We could have individual members pick a book each month or we could have everyone submit books we'd like to read and then vote on which one we read in a given month. Those are just some of my ideas, what think ye?

Sam Rimmasch Whatever is good for me. I've never been in a book club - so I thought I'd give it a try.

Hannah Stokes Yea, I'm good with whatever as well. I figured if you're a PhD student and still have time to read then so do I :)

Troy Munro | 43 comments A book a month shouldn't be too hard. My vote is for books that have kindle editions.

Sam Rimmasch I agree with Troy. I'd like an epub or some other version to read on a tablet or phone.

Most of my reading is on a Kindle, so I'll be sure to meet that requirement.

Sara | 55 comments I like a book a month. If it's a really long one we could give extra time. What if we have a big list of books and take turns choosing from the list? Or vote, that works too. :)

message 8: by Levi (new)

Levi | 38 comments I vote 50 pages or less, mostly pictures! ;-)

Sam Rimmasch I like a the idea of a list of books and voting for one together.

We want to keep all books to an approximate PG-13 level. As the Moderator I will do a little digging on any suggested books and determine if they are appropriate. I might miss something though so if anybody has knowledge about a book that might help, please let me know.

Troy Munro | 43 comments I created another discussion thread for a list of books, to get the ball rolling.

Levi | 38 comments How do we want to handle series?

message 14: by Sara (new)

Sara | 55 comments Thanks for checking for content. As I was trying to choose some titles to add to the list it was hard to find how appropriate they are. Also, I think if we get reading a book and are uncomfortable with content, we could just sit that book out. What do you think?

I would agree with that.

My thinking is that the group would read the first book in a series and people could choose to finish it on their own.

Levi | 38 comments What about a theme for a month, to which member submit books and then we vote to chose which one we read?

I think this would lead to some variety.

message 18: by Levi (new)

Levi | 38 comments And when are we starting?

The theme idea could be fun. I was thinking of making October the first month. If we want a theme we could go thriller? Like Frankenstein?

message 20: by Chandler (new)

Chandler Copeland I like that idea. I even have that book already on the Kindle.
