Yet Another Hunger Games Group discussion

RP with your soon-to-be-tribute and any others (other tribute/family/friends/etc) from their district. If you need somebody to step in and play a family member/friend/etc, there are people in this group who I'm sure would be happy to do so, such as myself.

Zoe studied the computers binary code again and again. Each time her eyes ran over it she felt like she was closer to her answer.

"Got anything over there, Zo?" Exilarc called, eyes fixed on his own computer's screen, fingers flying over the keyboard, typing in sequence after sequence with no results.

((They should have nicknames for each other, and "Zo" was the first thing I came up with...))

((Zo is good. Hm how about X or larc?))

((Larc sounds fine. Not a huge fan of "X", myself. Makes it sound more like a title, if you get my drift.))

((Yeah your right. Larc it is!))
Zoe eyes didn't falter. She simply said "Closer." The code was the key to breaking through to the hologramic inner workings.

"Damn!" Ileva wiped her forehead with her sleeve. "I know that it's only one number I'm missing!"

Strata shrugged at her words. "I'd bet my money on it."

Zoe closed her eyes. Ileva looked back at her. "Zo?"
Vash laughed. "Leave her to think for a minute."

"Prepare for 5368!" Exilarc grinned. They all knew what he meant; in a minute, Zoe was going to spew out the sequence, and they would have to catch every number.

Garret scavenged for the voice recorder that would occasionally help in these circumstances. He had just placed his hands on it when Zoe's eyes popped open and she began exclaiming " The C! C-8=h2tht957443leaveoppsh3ng35g1m4s -p!"

Exilarc's fingers flew across the keyboard while he did the calculations. "C=-15t over x squared!" he and Zoe exclaimed at exactly the same time.

Zoe rushed to Exlarc's side. She watched as he went back to typing. Vash took back up the tablet and opened the new topic blank set.

"You catch that over there, Rett?" Strata addressed her younger brother, "C=-15t over x squared!"

Rett recited it to himself again then entered it. Zoe leaned to Exlarc. "The code. It is breaking the barrier between the security of technology and palpable matter!"

He turned his head and found their faces only inches apart. He smiled. "I know, right?! I wonder what their faces will be like!"

Trez grinned. "Yeah! They only sent us in here last month, and we've already gotten farther than they've managed in three decades!"

"And they're so much older than we are!" Retti exclaimed, excited to be a part of this new development, being only twelve years old.

Ileva hugged Zoe. "This is amazing! We actually did it!" Zoe hugged her back then hugged Exlarc.

Vash came to see Larc's screen.

Exilarc felt his face growing hot and quickly squeezed Zoe back before pulling away and adjusting his glasses. He rubbed his hands together. "All right, let's see what we've got here! Shall we try the doughnut hologram first?" Exilarc asked, knowing that Trez would ask something about why they couldn't just do a doughnut shop, or something crazy like that.

Trez laughed. "Must we start small scale?"

Garret rolled his eyes. "Of course we do. We need to make sure that the holographic transfer works and how it does."

Ileva squealed. "Just shutup and do it already! I cannot wait any longer!"

Exilarc's grin faded away. "This... There's no way this can be right... This looks like..." he couldn't finish. His screen showed a vast array of places and climates, all of which he recognized vividly. The past arenas.

Strata turned to see. The arenas. All the details, everything.

Zoe's jaw dropped. She sat down next to Exlarc. "Larc, what...how did..." She looked back to the binary code she had been studying earlier. Had she interpreted it differently resulting in the breeching of top secret capitol files?

Only Trez's reaction was predictable. After a brief silence he shouted out, "We are SO damn awesome! We do tend to out-do ourselves, sometimes, don't we?"

Ileva smiled a bit at Trez's comment. They had just gotten into what the gamemakers had access to. They could control the games, right from their own club.
Zoe continued looking at the code. Why had it gone to the Hunger Games control board. Then the thought hit her.

Exilarc sensed things falling into place in Zoe's mind. "How did you know that code?" he asked, eyes serious.

Zoe looked up. "The things, the animals and-and...their all holographic images. The same code that we use to make holographic images, palpable matter is the same computer code that is used in the games to create the horrors inside it. That's how I knew the code. I had noticed the realistic programming of the obstacles in the games before...I didn't realize..." Her voice trailed off.

"Wait a second... Does this mean that we can't make doughnuts?" Trez asked.

Everyone shot him a look.

Ileva looked back at Exilarc. "Why are we being so solemn? We have access to the Hunger Games! We can control it and all those gamemakers will have no idea what the crap is going on!"

His grin spread across his face again. "Yeah, I guess so..." He rubbed his hands together. "Now let's see just what we can do with this! Can all of you guys open this up on your computers, too?"

Retro opened his. "Mine can." Strata sat at hers next to him. "Mine too." Soon they were all at their computers except Zoe. She stayed by Exilarc. She prefered to watch him test it out first. "Go ahead. Try something." She said amazed at what they had just accomplished.

Exilarc clicked the graphics and typed in an extra zero that enlarged one of the trees to ten times its original size. "It's just like our usual software..." he whispered.

Trez laughed as her caused the swarm of bees to all explode one by one. Zoe sighed. "You think the capitol would be more advanced." She had always dreamed about their fancy high tech software, but now she realized it was the same as theirs, it was kind of disappointing.

"Yeah, but look at what they've done with it..." He gestured at the screen in excitement. "Look at it! They've got every detail down to scale... They've got an entire arena... And it's right here."

Zoe cheered up a bit and said "Well then let's alter it to our preferences." she smiled at him.

Ileva burst out laughing. She had just added a doughnut shop on top of the volcano from a previous arena.

"Trez, was that you?" Exilarc called over to the boy, noticing a doughnut shop on top of a volcano where there had definitely not been one, before. "They're bound to notice all this stuff..."

Ileva removed the doughnut shop without another word. Trez scoffed "Now why would I do that?"

Zoe tried typing in a one and the lake shrunk. "Well yah they probably will." Rett suddenly exclaimed "My screen blanked! Something about 'Connection Error'. "

"Really? Mine hasn't... Zo, could you go check his, try to get him back online? The rest of us should work as fast as possible. We might actually be lucky enough to save a few tributes from the more brutal deaths this year..." Exilarc began to click and delete variables like there was no tomorrow.

Zoe got up and went to Rett's computer. "What did you do this time Rett?" she teased.
"Nothing!" Rett said. "I just went to delete a flashflood trigger and it said 'Error' then went blank."
Zoe rolled her eyes at him and pressed a few buttons.

((Want to skip ahead a few hours to President Snow's arrival?))

After a few hours of this, Exilarc flexed his fingers. "Well, so far this has gone smoother than I-" he began, then caught sight of the person in the doorway. "Err... Hold that thought."

Trez shook his head slightly and murmured, "You jinxed it, man."

Zoe watched Exilarc, scared. She followed him after a few seconds. She wasn't letting him face this alone. Especially if it was what it looked like.

Exilarc nervously met a peacekeeper at the door and followed him down the hall.

Zoe caught up to Exilarc's side and grabbed his hand. "I think they noticed, Larc." I say not letting my voice shake.

"Nah, I'm sure we're just going for doughnuts." His tone was sarcastic, but he squeezed her hand slightly, confused as to how it had even gotten in his in the first place.

The peacekeeper stopped in front of a door. The style of it told Zoe they had taken a tunnel to the Mayor's mansion. She squeased Exilarc's hand tight as the peacekeeper opened the door revealing who was waiting inside.

"Okay... This is new..." Exilarc muttered, hand twitching slightly in anticipation.

The peacekeeper pushed them into what looked to be a sitting room. There was a couch with one cushioned chair beside a coffee table. Sitting in that chair was none other than President Snow. Zoe held back her scowl. The peacekeeper left closing the door behind them.
