Possible Squel to Graceling

Would this book be considered to be the 'real' sequel to the first book. I haven't read the second book (Fire), but from the summary, I could tell the characters from the first novel are not in the second. At least they may be mentioned in the third (Bitterblue). What I'm wondering is: for the people who have read this book, would this technically be the sequel to Graceling?

Bitterblue is the sequel, while Fire is referred to as a "companion" to Graceling. I'd still read Fire before BB though.
I am hoping so because fire really only had a few brief mentions about gracelings........
Fire is more the prequel to Graceling. Tells you a lot more about the origin of the bad guy from Graceling and the other evil things he tried to do. Fire is my favourite out of the three.

i read them in the Graceling / Fire/Bitterblue order and i think that it was the right way to go. While you don't have to read Graceling to read Fire - you have to read both to follow BitterBlue.

Yeah, Fire is a prequel to Graceling, while Bitterblue is a sequel to Graceling.
