Thanks for the nomination, Emma!

Vivian LeMay | 4 comments ... I like the WWI theme too. Any ideas for books set in that time period?

message 5: by Gofita (new)

Gofita | 5 comments I'm pretty game with whatever. I haven't read as much on WWI so that would be really interesting!

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) My intro is so late! Also, I tried doing this last night on my phone (twice!) and it never showed up on the feed. So if I'm introducing myself three times, I apologize! My name is MaryKate and I love animals, especially dogs, period dramas, food, and reading (of course!). I just started my first job at an academic publishing company this week and I'm trying to get used to it :-). I love history and am very interested in WWI, though I haven't read much about it. Nice to meet you all!

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) Also, Risa, Dance the Moon Down sounds lovely!

Melissa Wiebe (melissawiebe80) | 4 comments Deafening would be another appropriate book. Here is a list of books that has been put together of books that take place during WWI; several have become classics: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/16...

Another book that would be appropriate would be Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World, as it deals with the aftereffects of the War.

Here is a list that includes non-fiction books as well: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/94...

The theme I'm nominating is surrounding circuses or magicians (and the like). There are a ton of great books that we could read, even a some non-fiction so we could include one or two non-fiction titles.

The Armenian genocide also took place during WWI. A great book that I would recommend would be The Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian.
