This book was pretty uneven. Slow start, but in the end I enjoyed it (My Review).
Mr. Lynch is going to have to do something in the next book to save Locke (Maybe the poison was never really fatal, but then why the "antidote"?) because I don't see this series going 7 books without both Jean and Locke living.
He seems to enjoy killing off supporting characters, which is fine I guess but then he can't build them into main characters and therefore has to leave both his protagonists alive.

I liked the beginning and the whole casino/planning bit though I enjoyed the pirates perhaps a little more. I didn't really like the villain as much as the Grey King and the Falconer. Rob wrote: "He seems to enjoy killing off supporting characters, which is fine I guess "
It annoys me because I'm going into Republic of Thieves with the expectation that anyone I like will die at the end and so I won't allow myself to get attached to anyone....except the rumored appearance of the final Gentlemen Bastard, who likely won't be killed off...in the next book at least. If I'll actually like her is yet to be seen.
Yes there were lots of good quotes as usual.
The "We're going to have flee the city one is one of my favorites."

Rob, you listed most of the rest in your updates....
"Can you imagine those poor bastards grappling their prey, leaping over the rails, swords in hand, screaming 'Your cats! Give us all your god-damned cats!'

Please keep comments to this book if you are one of those that read an ARC of The Republic of Thieves.
