GJ, once the group is formed, Jay will assign the pair-ups. We don't choose the books we read, and there are no reciprocal reviews.

Sure thing, Anne, good to see you back in the fray with another book :)

Oh boy, do I remember that 'confused' feeling GJ!

The best instructions are all on the GR help pages, a real mine of info on how to get the most out of GR. Look at the bottom of the page for the 'help' link - there's loads of info on all topics, very easy to follow. The section you're interested in right now is:

G.J. Griffiths (gjgriffiths) | 723 comments I have just learned that I am now included as a Goodreads Author so should I change the link or is it not relevant at this stage? Busy reading all the guidelines. Feels very exciting to step into this "unknown" territory!

C.D. (skymama) Do you still have room in the group for me? It's book one of an epic fantasy series.

message 16: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) On out, one in eh?
Thanks for letting us know, Liv - much better to know at this stage. By all means join in a later group when you have time.

Yes, C, we do have room for you - and we need one more to make up the group.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) GROUP 19 - moderator
Marie-Anne Mancio
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
START DATE: 06 Oct (provisional until you’re all signed in)

END DATE: 29 Dec

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 29 December 2013.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

DON’T FORGET TO POST THE LINK TO THE BOOK(S) YOU WILL BE PUTTING FORWARD FOR REVIEWING AS I REQUESTED IN MY PM TO YOU. FAILURE TO DO SO BY THE GROUP START DATE MAY RESULT IN YOU LOSING YOUR PLACE TO ANOTHER MEMBER.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

message 20: by Jay (last edited Oct 01, 2013 11:40AM) (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap. ‘Sign in’ by pasting the GR link to the book you want reviewed, and start swapping books ready for round 1 once I’ve posted that we’re all signed in and there are no clashes needing a rearrangement of the order.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) DO NOT START SWAPPING BOOKS UNTIL YOU ARE ALL SIGNED IN
It frequently happens that despite expressing interest not all prospective members sign in to a group. It might also be the case that there are reviewing clashes – if so I’ll need to rearrange the review ordering. Please wait until I give the all clear and hand the group over to your group moderator. Thank you.

Ah, the dangers of copy/paste lol! I missed one place that needed an edit from doing the previous group - Kathy is KA Krisko who is moderator for Group 18. It should have been Marie-Anne. It's a good job for me that members don't end up evicted for making mistakes!!

Shawn Otomo | 10 comments Excsue me Jay, but do we have the all clear to start swapping books?

message 31: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Glad to see you've read the messages above, Shawn.

VIVEK - DO NOT SWAP BOOKS YET.

Sorry about the shouting but this group is not yet finalised. No swapping should happen until I've confirmed the order by getting everyone signed in.

message 32: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Vivek wrote: "Sorry about that Jay"

That's OK, Vivek. I'll never knock enthusiasm. It's just that things get very confusing if swapping has happened and then someone doesn't sign in or there's a clash and I have to rearrange the ordering to avoid reciprocal reviewing. You won't have long to wait - I hope!

Steven Donoso (bluecoronet) | 17 comments Hi All,

Would someone in Group 19 be willing to swap the book they are reviewing for one of the ones I am slated to review? I've always avoided Horror fiction (films too), so I don't feel I can really do justice to reviewing the book. Please let me know and thanks!

Let the reviewing begin!

message 37: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) I find it very refreshing to meet such honesty and commitment to completing the full 4 reviews. There have been far too many instances of reviews just not being done, which isn't fair to fellow group members. Thanks for that, Stephen. And also my thanks for the understanding shown by the author, Dianne. You are 2 special people :)

Just to be clear, this is the book we need a reviewer for:

Behind blue Eyes by D.M. Wolfenden

As Stephen says, he is willing to swap books for round 1, so do we have a horror/vampire lover among you? I'm also going to post on the request for a reviewer with the registered readers. We don't normally get involved in this way, but in this special circumstance I think a little support is not out of place.

message 38: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) We have an offer from Stevan to do the review :)

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Dianne - could you PM him to arrange getting your book to him please?

Steven - perhaps you'd like to help out someone in the same way in the future? Just keep an eye on that topic and see who is missing reviews in the future, see if something takes your fancy.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) While we're waiting for the last 3 to sign in, if any of you are keen to do some reviewing now the Review Group has a charity anthology out. Of Words and Water is an anthology of short stories, flash fiction and poetry from some of our members, published in support of WaterAid. Please feel free to pick up a copy even if you don't have time to review it, and tell all your family and friends. It's free and all formats can be downloaded from Smashwords, or go to your favourite site for a copy.

Of Words and Water by Ali Isaac

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

As this is going to be an annual project you might want to consider writing a short story for the 2014 anthology. The (very loose) theme is 'many nations, one world'. To give you an idea of what I mean when I say loose theme, this year's theme was 'water' and we had everything from a child's name, a cup of tea, right through to whole oceans.
