I'm a huuuge fan of epilogues, and the way they can really give that extra touch of joy to a romance novel.

Are you an epilogue fan? What book has your favorite one? Do you have a particular author you think writes the best epilogues?

Which of hers are your favorites?

Dana | 28 comments For some reason Stella and Mace's stand out in my memory

~Melissa~ I so agree!! She has the best epilogues.
Just finished Heaven and Hell recently. Was great to see them "later" with kids.
I loved Stella and Mace's too. I think that one stands out because it talks about all the Rock chicks and their hot guy ~ not just Stella and Mace. You get a glimpse of all of them ☺

Deeva05 | 8 comments Until November a new release by Aurora Reynolds has a nice epilogue. I also concur with the KA comments all her books have great epilogues. Lady Luck is probably my favorite.

Let me think on this and I'll get back. Agree that Kristen Ashley does great Epilogues.

Judy | 9 comments Kristen Ashley's Motorcycle Man--Excellent epilogue. Also, while not my favorite of her books, Rock Chick Revolution epilogue updates all of her Rock Chicks.

I have to agree with you on that Judy. Ally's book wasn't my favorite of that series. Not a huge fan of flashbacks. felt like Ally really didn't get her own book. Was nice to see the whole gang and "hear" what they were up to.

I love the epilogues in Creed (Unfinished Hero, #2) by Kristen Ashley and Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James . I actually felt like Freed was one long epilogue to the previous two!

Sonya Heaney I can't pick one book, but I think Cindy Gerard has the best epilogues. She somehow manages to wrap things up, catch up with past characters AND keep the cheese away. She recognises there's no need for identical twin babies and lots of hugging and fairies and whatnot.

I also think Kaylea Cross does a good job.

In straight old contemporary romance, Sarah Mayberry is pretty good.

The key to a good epilogue is recognising what the central conflict of the story is. If your book is about a crazy stalker maniac guy, you don't need to impregnate your heroine in the epilogue. However, if - like in one of Sarah Mayberry's books - your story is about two people who desperately want a baby, that's when you should address pregnancy and stuff. The epilogue should be relevant to the rest of the book.
