This is the shortest one so far- only 239 pages!

Also, I am interested because this was meant to be the last book. If you read the reviews people will say goodbye to this series and the have it on shelves such as last book in series. When she published the fourth book everyone was so excited because NOBODY was expecting it. So I am wondering how this one ends and the fourth one picks up!

I'm through the first chapter, April

and I can't lie, it's great to be back with them
I'm so glad she, both brothers AND the mom are alive

I love that (view spoiler)[ they get weekly food deliveries. I love that it comes with news! I think that is very realistic, that news and information is spread through deliveries.... (hide spoiler)]

I am through the first chapter. A little further than that actually. I am in Chapter 3.

It is great to be back with them! (: I missed Miranda and the crew!

I love how realistic it is as well. It makes you think. Like if this happened to us, would that be the way we received our food and news? I love how realistic it is!

I know this isn't a month but during Chapter 2..

Ch 2

House raiding (view spoiler)[ yeah!! I'm so glad they went to the houses nearby and got supplies. Miranda is really doing a great job of adjusting. She started out so selfish and whiny in the first book. She's really grown (hide spoiler)]

Food (view spoiler)[ oh no...no more deliveries. I'm so sad but I'm glad they are still getting food. (hide spoiler)]

Rain (view spoiler)[ what does it mean? I talked with my husband and he said it must mean that the sun is getting through the ash cover.
I hope so!!! they need the warmth! The possibility of growing food again!! (hide spoiler)]

trip (view spoiler)[ ugh, I'm so nervous about their fishing trip. SO MANY things can go wrong.
and we don't know how dangerous it is out there right now :( (hide spoiler)]

and their mom is so smart

cleaning not only gives them something 'normal' to concentrate on, but it also gives them a purpose
and it keeps them healthy

even doing the school work gives them 'something' so they don't succumb to depression and the will to live.. (hide spoiler)]

Wow! All the spoilers up to Chapter 8 are so accurate! :D

I was thinking exactly the same thing with Matt's wife! I had it on text-to-speech and was putting the milk back into the fridge and heard that and almost dropped the milk! It's insane!

And yay! So glad you liked it! :D

I am liking it and excited to see when they meet and storylines start merging, which probably will begin soon.

And no it's fine! This book is such a quick read it shouldn't take me much longer!

This was my least favorite of the series so far. But I still liked it! I have a few things I have to do right now so once everything calms down I will post all of my thoughts! I have a lot of them!!

Also, I think the 4th book is told by Jon's POV.. I read the summary and it seems like it is based around him.. And that scares me. I don't want him whining about Julie the entire time. He definitely was not my favorite character.

Yeah, the couples were a little frustrating.
I didn't mind Miranda and Jon having a crush seemed to make sense too

BUT the older brother getting married on a whim?? Especially when she was SO stingy with the food! No way would he have chanced that. It just made no sense and didn't flow with his character at all.

were you surprised that Julie died?? I was surprised! I thought the author typically kept everyone alive, that he wouldn't kill off anyone except the friend in this book.

And oh my gosh! The whole thing with Matt and Syl was totally ridiculous! You should be thinking of survival, not marriage. I was so surprised.

And yes-- I was surprised when Julie died! I actually wrote a book status on it after I read and it said something like this. "Truthfully I had no idea that would happen. With this series, I should expect the unexpected but I definitely wasn't here."

Yeah, I am definitely going to read the 4th book but hope hope hope it's good! :D I think I have gotten so used to Miranda and Alex that it is weird to see Jon's POV.

okay, I just put a request in at my library but I'm 5th on the waiting list.....and there are only 6 or 7 copies
