Yeah speaking of Ben and Jerry's....oh wait-we weren't! We were talking about humans who breastfeed wallaby's ;)
I third that idea. Yesterday we started a civilized conversation on the epic Man from snowy river and somehow ended with S.K breast feeding wildlife and touching on threesomes somewhere along the way :)
I do try but sometime I can't keep my Aussie Ocker in check.. I will try to behave from now on ;)
No two large white chocolate mochas, two glasses of coke, a regular coffee sachet nescafe thing and a 'V'.Erm,....long drive!
We like B&J's because we've had it available to buy for only 6 months, lol. And the flavours are amazing! All that 'stuff' you put in there works for me!
Ladies, it is with great trepidation that I announce the publication of "Dear Mom, . . " on The Parsons' Rant. I will post the story on the competition topic shortly. The short-link to "Dear Mom, . . ." is http://wp.me/p2mqnJ-1KR
Read the story and try not to laugh . . . too much.
Howard - Awaiting the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
We are quite all over the place, I prefer pistachio ice cream by the way.

Yay Howard I love it! :)

Lol. No I really liked it. Admittedly I 'got' the twist but I get most twists at the start of anything I read. Like your references to posideon as part of the mer legend-very similar to Wake (they're fallen Muses) and I liked the letter format.
Love the fact that they're not sea-bound ;)
Im going to try to read it later!
It's great Howard! (Possible spoiler ahead) Even from those few pages I felt for Lindsay having missed out on so many opportunities had she revealed her secret sooner and for all unnecessary anguish! Is that irony? I imagine the effect on the reader would be tenfold having read chapters before this point.
well done!
well done!
Wow! Usually it's hard for a story to grab my attention right off the bat but that one did. Good job Howard, I would definately like to read more!
Ladies,I am indeed humbled by your most gracious comments. Lindsey is a secondary character in the 1st book who graciously agreed to appear in this short story with the hope of getting her own book later in the Colony Island series. Posideon has a cameo role in the epilogue of Urban Mermaid with an option for similar appearances in later books.
My stint as a contractor wraps up in early Nov. After that, I'm back on the skids again. I plan to start on the "bible" next month & after that it should be writing time.I may release the Prologue as a short story 1st.
Seen in the Wal-Mart parking lot this afternoon:A white compact car with Virginia vanity plates that read "LIL MRMD".
Marie wrote: "Well Howard, I'll be anxiously awaiting this series. What exactly constitutes is this "Bible" you're creating before writing?"By "bible" I mean a list of "facts", names, concepts, etc. to insure consistency across all novels in the series. In other words, I don't want my characters to all have silver-green tails in Book 1 & suddenly everyone has periwinkle tails in Book 2. An over-simplification but I'm sure you get the idea.
Another example are the notes for the prologue. I may use Notes 1, 2, 4, 5 in the Prologue but I may use Note 3 in the Epilogue. By laying this all out in advance, won't have to suddenly have to harmonise the idea in Note 3 with everything else & thus find myself in a pickle trying to make everything work when it's time to cobble the Epilogue.
This "bible" will also be a living document. If I decide to add a character named "Bob Marlin" somewhere whilst writing Book 1, I'll add the information to the document so I won't suddenly name him "Bob Bass" in Book 3.
Marie wrote: "I completely understand. So do you have your storyline already planned out?"Through Book 2 and roughly Book 3 which may become Book 4 if I decide to devote one to Lindsey.
Ladies,I've been giving thought to Book # 3. If anyone has seen Sir Tom Stoppard's play - or the movie version - Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, you will know that these two minor characters from Hamlet sit in the background carrying on their own dialogues and commentary. Short scenes from Hamlet are occasionally interjected and afterwards, the two characters go on with their discussions and observations.
Well, I am no Tom Stoppard but Lindsey was cast as a minor character in Book 1 appearing in several scenes with a few lines here and there. I am contemplating putting Lindsey in the observer role in Book 3. She will have her own plot but every once and a while, scenes from Book 1 will intrude and they will be told from her perspective. Anthony will also have a part though, of course, they will not renew their relationship of convenience from the short story.
Thoughts?
One of the characters in my book was supposed to have about 4 scenes. You'd laugh your ass off if you knew who!

Huhg? Who?! ooh I think I know...he's hawiian right????
My phone goes: 'Bing! Bing! BING!' and it's usually my friend Terri Lee uploading pics of her kids, or you Abs. This time it was both, lol!And....I'm not answering that. We need a secret discussion goss after Heads Or tails releases :)
Yes we'll make it a spoiler group goss. I have a feeling I'm going to have a LOT of questions with exclamation points to answer...given what you, Amie and Abs pm me all the time anyway....
Ooohhh may I be part of the secret discussion too? :)
All finfans may join the spoiler convo, lol! I'm sorry everyone thought it was coming out sooner, I see where I mis-spoke. But yes I do need that time between releases. the date I have set is my very favourite day of the year-Halloween! Which will probably the 30th here because halloween is a crazy day for me!
I am sorry but the release date is printed right in front of me on the last page of Three rings!
Not happy, Jan!!!
Ps there is no love in those exclamations!

I was all excited for tomorrow...but I suppose another three weeks wont kill me.
OMG Jen that sucks that I did that! I would have gotten all confused because it was the end of August when I was getting it internet ready and so I would have counted 2 months away and gone : 'Sep, Oct...' yeah my total bad!However.....Marie has suggested that some of my favourite people get copies early-the good old ARC or whatever they're called. I might be choosing a few to get it as soon as it's done which I am aiming for 2 weeks from now...we shall see...editing gods permitting!
This version is going to be PERFECT. PERFECT!!!!! Not a typo if I can manage it!
Ok although I feel like re-enacting one of my daughters tantrums, crossing my arms over my chest and stomping off whilst screaming "you are not my friend anymore" I will be a big girl and instead take myself off to bed. It's just gone midnight here.
Go ahead and set up the eye candy thread I might be in a better state of mind to join in tomorrow ;)

Marie wrote: "Haha. Well while you two are bickering, I'm throwing my hand up in the air and waving it around wildly. I happen to be an excellent finder of typos . . .perhaps my skills should warrant one of thos..."It's okay I've had a friend volunteer and she is bloody ruthless. I got an inbox every time! Lol. She was supposed to do the last but like ABS she's a nurse and I took too long getting it ready for it to be convenient for her.
