The Nevermore series discussion

So, what do you guys think of the duo? It's obvious that people would prefer Varen to be with Isobel because what he and Lilith have isn't love. So, how would you guys describe their complex relationship as?
I'd describe it as Varen being bound to Lilith. It seems like she owns his soul, but Isobel own his heart.

She set a trap for him with herself as the bait, and he was desperate enough to walk into it. So now he's trapped and wants out, but she won't let him until he does her bidding, whatever that is.

Yeah, that sounds right. I think he was desperate because he felt like no one understood him and was lonely. But when Isobel came along and he started feel less like this because of her, he regretted getting himself involved with Lilith because he wants to stay in the real world for Isobel, to be with her (cause he fell in love with her). I think that's why he went with Lilith. Not only because he was mesmerized by her dark beauty but also to escape from the bullying and the horrible treatment that he gets from his father. As for the bidding that Lilith wants in return, I think it's to finish what Edgar Allan Poe didn't; to write her into existence so that she can wreak havoc on the real world for some kind of revenge.

Not necessarily revenge. She's a demon. She was created to fuck with humanity.

I know, but there seems like there has to be some kind of revenge she wants against whoever blocked her from entering the human world....

Lilith is using poor Varen. After the thing with Poe didn't work, she found Varen to enact whatever nefarious plot she came up with.

My theory is that said nefarious plot involves entering the waking world and making it like the dreamworld or something, but I don't know. Kelly is a master of leaving us with more questions than answers.

I agree, it is a good theory. If Lilith were to make it to the waking world and had world domination, wouldn't that basically be the apocalypse?
