Darkness never dies.

Alley and I are going to read and discuss this book from October 10th and everyone is invited to join us.

I read the first chapter last night and it has a great start.

i'll start it today in a few hours. still have one other book to finish. if i won't be able, then i'll start it tomorow morning.

Finished (view spoiler)[ What a depressing ending! It was a wonderful book but now I can't possibly wait for Ruin and Rising sanely. I kind of hope Nikolai is dead but I was sad to see all the Grisha go. I really don't think I want the Darkling to die but something REALLY bad needs to happen to him. I wasn't too happy with what they did with his mother. I really liked her character in the first book and she just seems so tortured now. (hide spoiler)]

i am only 10% done and i started to read your spoiler after you finished it and then hide it and said to myself: no, no, stop! so I read only half of it.

for me the story has just started so i'm far from ending but I have to speed up a little with this book.

I found it easier to read through after I got past the first three pages. Luckily, my spoiler wasn't too bad, I just hid it just in case.

Okay so I know I said I wasn't but I'm kinda OCD and like to read things in order so I read the Novellas.. They are both really short.

I didn't like this one at all It was really hard to follow and I had no idea what was going on.. I guess it's about how Volcra are created? I spent the whole time trying to figure out how these characters connected to the story but I couldn't? Any ideas?

This one I actually liked cause it's about one of my favorite characters from Shadow & Bone (view spoiler)[ I'm confused about why the Darkling & Genya are working together... I see drama in the future between Alina & Genya even though I think they do have an honest relationship. There's obviously more to the Darkling's story and I just want to figure it out so bad! I'm kind of confused... Can someone explain Strumhound and Nikolai and was someone pretending to be someone else or something? I was listening to it on audio book while I was driving and now I'm super confused... I'm about 49%

Sturmhond is a disguise Nikolai used so the Darkling won't know him.

Through Chapter 14, I'm kinda bored to be honest. (view spoiler)[ I think I just miss the Darkling and how much he hates to love Alina.. I also miss Genya, what happened to her?! Where did she go? I'm glad that Alina is finally grasping her power and taking charge even though it took forever to convince her.. And I think Baghra is right, if she gets the third amplifier she's gonna be so powerful she won't even know what to do with herself (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 19.. I'm starting to really like Nikolai.. But maybe I'm just desperate for Alina to be with someone other than Mal

Nope.. I think he's the "easy" option for Alina.. I think they care about each other more like brother/sister not lovers.. I think them together is really weird

I just finished the first 5 chapter and OMG HOLY SHIT!!! (view spoiler)[ That was one hell of a way to start a book! OMG THE DARKLING I know he's evil and wrong but I still like him cause I kinda understand his thinking he just want the fighting to stop, he going about the wrong way but what he untimely want isn't bad!! And I think he might love Alina in his own sick and twisted sort of way. She's only person that has every been comparable to him. I still like Genya too and feel bad for her, I think she still does care for Alina. Think Alina was and is being a little bit selfish for running away with Mal and not caring about her country but I understand that she just wants be left alone, it's all she ever wanted. I like that the author is really playing up that if Alina what to feel better and look better she need to use her power, I think that going to be a big problem later on. You can already kinda see it in the way she want the scales. Also I LOVE STURMHOND!! HE'S AWESOME!! SO much happened omg (hide spoiler)]

I KNOOOOW!!!! (view spoiler)[ Definitely with you on the Darkling loves Alina theory!! I am liking Genya less and less actually! My theory is that she is just trying to find the place where she can get enough piece of mind to come up with HOW she can save her country from the fold. I am curious to see if she uses the second amplifier and THE THIRD?!?!?! And what it will do! I mean she got the strength from the stag because she showed mercy but will the other amplifiers "know" that she is a good person and affect her in a good way? I feel it has gone from good to bad, back and forth a lot and fast so I am hoping for some good for a while at least so the Alina and Mal- thing can evolve or at least just give the story a bit of a break from the constant twists. I like twists but not on every other page. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I really want to know what the third amplifier is, for both the antlers and the scales she had to show mercy in sparing it's life and ending a painful one. I wonder if she need to show mercy for all three. And I agree they need to SLOW DOWN and give the characters some time to breath! Alina and Mal need time to develop their relationship it still kinda feels like they're friend, also I think despite everything that has happened and her hating the Darkling I think deep down she still has feelings for him even though she doesn't want to, but I might be biased (hide spoiler)]
