It's actually in the third person omnicient. First person is "I" statements and is told from the point of view of one of the characters. This is told from the point of view of an all-knowing narrator, so it is not first person.
It is first person because the author is telling the story and knows everything about the story, but he does say I. (He often interrupts the story to tell you things.) Also, in the third book of the series, he clears it up for you. (I don't know if it was on purpose.) He has the main character come and visit him, and he talks to them and says I and stuff.

The story is told in the first point of view. It is told by the author and he is describing the characters and their feelings. The book is about dark and horrifying fairy tales but they are very interesting.
