What are your thoughts on Alex and Jesse?

I loved Alex and the way he looked out for Isa even from the first meeting. Jesse at the beginning I felt was a nice guy but then found out he was good self important as you will see later in the book.

I loved how Alex used to watch Isa jumping on her horse and that they were both from the same kind of families and could get on so easily, Betty was such a good friend to Isa and even from the beginning of the friendship you just know that Isa will have a friend in Betty for life and throughout these chapters your start to see that the friendship with Alex would be something that would last forever.

Jesse after starting to go out with Isa shows his jeleousy very early on and his controlling tendencies which started to put me off him

I completely agree with Sheena. I really liked Alex in that he was always there for Isa, and Jesse always seemed so controlling. Because Isa was always a loner, I don't think she even realized how much of a hold he had on her.

I really like Betty! I can picture some of my own friends being like her, and how she is very supportive of Isa. She is definitely a lifelong friend. What a good relationship for Isa to have honestly.

How sad that Isa is sent away and her sisters are with the other grandparents and separated again!!
Even thou her sisters were still living with her other grandparents she was again allowed to see them She meets a friend Betty.
She runs away and show up at her Mom's to stay there with her. She gets to see Mellie again, seeing her little sister Gracie. Isa mets Jesse Cain

I think Isa grandparents did not show their love and support unless Isa was doing exactly what they wanted her too!! I don't doubt they loved her just were limits on their love

I agree Barbara, I loved the whole introduction to Alex and Isa' determination and independence when she ran away
