Allowed Races:
Any - use your imagination!
Race Descriptions (Unless noted otherwise, descriptions are my own.):
Human - YOU! Or any other resident of this wonderful planet.
Mage/Sorcerer - Humans with magical talent and/or abilities. Mages use spells; sorcerers are more intuitive in their use of magic, but may also use spells. Only sorcerers can create new spells.
Elf - Elves look human, but thinner, taller, and with pointed ears. Elves have pale skin and can have any color of hair.
Half-Elf - Half-elves are a mixture of one human parent and one elf parent. They may resemble either race, but will have slightly pointed ears.
Drow - Drow are dark elves, a race related to the elves. The two races split apart centuries ago and are now mortal enemies. Drow live underground, have black skin and white hair. Drow are generally evil and are rumored to have dealings with demons.
Half-Drow - Half-drow are a mixture of one human parent and one drow parent. Alternatively, they may be a mixture of one elf parent and one drow parent. The first is much more common.
Vampire - Most vampires start life as a human. When they die - or are on the verge of death - they are saved and converted to vampirism by another vampire (known as the sire). Vampires must drink blood to survive. Bloodlust is impossible to control for a newly-turned vampire; such control comes with time. Races other than human can be converted, but doing so is very rare.
Angel - Denizen of heaven. Very rarely, an angel's spirit may inhabit a human at birth.
Kitsune - Fox spirit (also called a fox demon in parts of Japan). Kitsune are tricksters. They are born with a single tail, but may earn more throughout their long, long life, up to a total of nine. The secret to earning these extra tails is known only to kitsune, unless one chooses to tell you.
Were-creature - A human-looking being who can change shape into an animal (i.e. wolf, lion, leopard, etc.). Some powerful weres can preform partial shifts, shifting only one part of their body at a time. Some weres may have a third form that is a hybrid between human and animal.
Demon - A denizen of hell; a fallen angel. Demons usually take on human form when coming to this plane of existence. Very rarely, a demon's spirit may inhabit a human at birth.
Abelite werewolf - (Description courtesy Sexy) - descendants of Abel, whom, after being killed by Cain, was resurrected by Gabriel, to fight the Vampires sired by Cain and Lilith, the Cainite Vampires.
Centaur - Looks like a horse below where the horse's neck would normally start. From there, springs the upper body of a human. Mostly males.
Shadow wolf/Fire wolf - Types of wolf spirits that may take up residence in any natural wolf or wolf shifter. Rarely, a wolf or shifter will be born with such spirits as a part of his or her own soul. Other elements of wolf spirits may exist.
Cainite Vampires - (Description courtesy Sexy) - Vampiric descendants of Cain and Lilith. May also be called 'natural vampires' because they are born as vampires, not converted from other races.
Gwishin - a type of ghost - (Description courtesy Nicole.) - They are people who have died, not monsters or creatures such as Dokkaebi. They can be found in many places, but are commonly in abandoned buildings, houses, cemeteries, forests, etc. When a person who dies without completing something that they must do (e.g. revenge or staying longer with their family), their spirit remains on earth to complete the task before going on to the underworld. However, very strong gwishin do not go to the underground world if they want to remain on earth, and over time these gain strength.
Dragon - A large lizard-like creature. They have some kind of breath weapon, most often fire. They are shape shifters, able to change between their dragon and human forms at will. (Normally. Hybrids may have trouble with this.)
Succubus/Incubus - a subspecies of demon with powers over lust. May need sex to live.
Tuatha Dé Danann (Wild-People) - (Description courtesy Demon Wolf) - Race of ancient beings that were around at the start of Creation. They taught and gave wild magic to sentient beings as they came. They are considered neutral and care only about keeping the balance of Creation (for every good thing there is a bad and vice versa). They are the only beings that can control the WildFire, a flame that allows those that bond with it to shape-shift. (view spoiler)
(Wild Magic is now considered to be a part of Earth Magic. It is neither widely known nor much practiced.)
Gargoyles - (Description courtesy Demon Wolf) - Originally created as stone sentinels they eventually gained sentience and free will, much to their masters' and creators' fear. When one finally disobeyed its master many were killed in a fevered terror that followed, for Gargoyles were one of the few beings strong enough to handle most threats. (view spoiler)
Demi-god - Child of a god and a human (or other humanoid race). Usually look more like their human parent, but may share powers with their godly parent.
Demi-deity - (Description courtesy Demon Wolf) - Can be considered demi-gods but aren't. They are the children of powerful forces of nature and unnature, and tend to take after their deity parent.
Naga - Snake from the waist down, human above the waist. May be able to shift to a pure human form. Mostly females.
Strix - (Description courtesy Iesha.) - In folklore, it was considered a bird of ill omen that fed on human flesh and blood; a product of metamorphosis.
Phoenix - Immortal fire bird. When one dies, it immediately burns only to be reborn from the ashes. A phoenix soul can be magically trapped in an object until released into a suitable host. Phoenixes generally live for up to a thousand years before having to be reborn.
Other races will be added as needed.
I will add what description I can from character profiles; PM me with any corrections or additions. Thank you.

15:00 Added the following to Post 1:
PLEASE NOTE: Any fight between characters owned by different people needs to be discussed before it is written. Either use PMs or Character Chat. Thank you. (Naturally, characters owned by the same person may fight among themselves at will. Just be careful of bystanders, be they innocent or not. ^_-)

22:40 - Updated current date/time in the rp. Sunset is coming fast, so it's starting to get dark.
I know at least one thread is on the next day: Pond & Surroundings. (Some dorm rooms may be as well...) I would like for most threads to be at around the specified date and time, but I know others will be ahead (or behind). So long as they don't get more than a day ahead (or behind), it's fine. ^_-

Still need professors of non-magical subjects (other than Latin and History)!
Still need professors of non-magical subjects (other than Latin and History)!
Added the position of Battlemaster. We have one in the works and will need three more. Each Battlemaster will specialize in one of four areas, which I will list soon (or can be found near the end of the 'Character Creation' topic if you're really curious). Battlemasters may have another position in addition to their primary role. Security guard would be the most likely, but other positions will be allowed, so long as you can give me good reasons.
Updated Battlemaster a bit, listing the four specialties. Three of them are available. (Might be four soon, depending on group input.)
Updated date/time of RP. (Post #1)
Updated available positions with the newest Battlemaster position. (Post 3)

Schools of Magic:
Wind
Water
Fire
Earth
Spirit
Healing/Life
Illusion
Force
Light*
Dark*
Dragon*
Blood***Any race can learn spells from any school of magic, save the last three. Light (also called Angel/Aether/Holy) magic can only be used by angels or those with angel blood. Dark (also called Demon/Nether/Unholy) magic can, likewise, only be used by demons or those with demon blood. Dragon magic is only accessible to those with dragon blood. (More information on Dragon Magic to come.)
**Blood magic is an ancient form of magic that has been outlawed in every civilized country. It is, therefore, not taught at the college. Not officially anyway.
Additional schools of magic can be requested via the suggestions topic.I think we have enough now. If you can convince me with reasoning (and without begging), I may add others.*************************************************************
Upon arrival at the college, all students should report to Reception in the Student Center to receive their room assignments.
Class schedules are to be chosen from the various offerings of the professors. (I'll make up schedules for the unfilled positions.) Each class will have a credit hour value listed along with class title and times the class meets. Students ((so, players)) will be expected to keep track of the credit hours for the classes they are taking. Spot checks are likely to ensure none of the guidelines below are violated.
Students are expected to take a minimum of 6 credit hours worth of classes per semester in order to live on campus. 12 credit hours are required to maintain a Work/Study job or scholarship. No student will be allowed to take more than 18 credit hours in any single semester.
For a new student to take a class other than introductory level in any discipline will require placement testing, which is to be roleplayed with the appropriate professor (or the dean).
Placement testing will be done the week before classes start. Placement tests may allow students to place out of Introductory and/or Basic level classes.
PLEASE NOTE: Any fight between characters owned by different people needs to be discussed before it is written. Either use PMs or Character Chat. Thank you. (Naturally, characters owned by the same person may fight among themselves at will. Just be careful of bystanders, be they innocent or not. ^_-)
Current Date (in the RP): Sunday 18 August 2013 (Early morning, not quite dawn. Some people are awake already, but the day Receptionist is not in yet. Scratch that. The Night Receptionist is still on shift. Dean Ilivarra will take over at roughly 08:00.)
Please note: Some RP threads may be further ahead (or slightly behind) in date or time, but most should be taking place on the above date at around the specified time.
Placement tests will be from Monday 19 August through Friday 23 August. Classes start Monday 26 August.
