Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Hello. I hope someone else can be the captain. I am already captaining another team challenge and I really don't want to man another one at the moment.

Turtlecollector Dennis 3 of us are all captains on the same team challenge. Since my cocaptain and I have ended up on the same team, why didn't Mr. R put Ezi here too? I guess too many Hobbits on the same team would be unfair to the rest of the teams. And this way I get to meet new people.:)

Anyone have ideas for a team name? Tea, you are usually creative.

message 5: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I was thinking that too, that we might all be tower team captains. But I was hoping at least one of us wouldn't be.

Maybe we can all co-captain this?

All that's popping into my head is somethng to do with Magic 8-Balls. But I'm not usually good at naming things.

message 6: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments *waves*

No idea about the name at the moment. I need to be in the right mood for that. :P

It would be great if we could co-captain this. I think I'm in the wrong time zone to be a solo captain. I'm probably at least 6h ahead of you.

Jennifer isn't captain in tower teams (I've checked :P)

Turtlecollector Dennis I can be a dice roller captain at least. I am in the Pacific Time Zone and am up pretty early(usually around 6am). My weekends are Sunday/Monday and I only work 11-6 on Thursdays, which leaves me available for much of those days. If we need a last minute dice roll in order to get all the reviews in, I am 2 hrs earlier than Central time and can still be up at 9-10 pm in order to do it.

message 8: by Mary X (last edited Oct 02, 2013 09:55AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I'm on EST. I'm usually up around 6:30 am my time on weekdays and maybe 8am on weekends. I am usually not up late on weeknights. Not past 11pm anyway. But I can also keep an eye out and do the roll.

Maybe the last person to post their review can do the roll if it's on that day?

how did TC & tea end up on the same team again?

message 10: by ❀Tea❀ (last edited Oct 02, 2013 03:07PM) (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments Do we want name with eight in it or something random?

hard eight
eight them all
eight-spot
behind the eight ball
eight days a week
wild eights
killer eights
after eight

book chasers/series chasers

message 11: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Doesn't have to have the word eight in it as far as I'm concerned.

If we're all doing the Tower Teams Read Like a Banshee challenge, how about something with Banshee in the title.

Turtlecollector Dennis Banshee Book Blasters?

I am all set for 11-40 or so. I plan to be reading Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie(for the series challenges) and I own most of them. I am kind of stuck on #s 5, 6, or 9.

message 13: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I think I have pretty much every # covered. I'm hoping the first #'s we roll will coincide with books I wanted to read for the book hunt.

message 14: by ❀Tea❀ (last edited Oct 03, 2013 04:23AM) (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments Good idea about Agatha Christie!
I think I'll use that if nothing else can fit. :P

Or In Death series :P Both of us is only at the beginning :P

Banshee Books Blasters sounds good.

Or we could go with only Banshees.
Let's scare other teams :P

message 15: by Mary X (last edited Oct 03, 2013 05:51AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments My higher # series are probably going to be Hamish Macbeth, Phryne Fisher & the Lucas Davenport series. Maybe the Psy-Changlings.

Turtlecollector Dennis Anyone hear from Jennifer yet?

message 17: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Sorry for checking in so late for some reason i thought teams weren't getting picked until Fri. I can be captain if you like or you guys can do the co-captain thing if you would like. I'm est time btw.

I'm good with whatever name.

Hi Jennifer!
It was supposed to be later, but nobody signed in for some time so Jenne closed the sign-ups and created groups. I only found out because I saw comments between TC and Ezi in Hobbit thread. :P

You really don't mind being the captain?
I'm CET so if I'm rolling that would be few hours less for you to post your reviews.

message 19: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I vote Jennifer for captain!

silly name idea:

The Waddling Banshees? (a group of penguins is called a waddle).

Second vote for Jennifer! ☺

Love the name The Waddling Banshees. :P <-- voting for that one

Turtlecollector Dennis Jennifer has my vote for captain as well. I also like the silly name: The Waddling Banshees.

message 22: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Thank you for your votes. I gladly accept the captaincy and hope I do our team proud :)

You guys are quite silly but I love "The Waddling Banshees" also...LOL

I'm off to let Jenne know!

message 23: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Oct 03, 2013 04:22PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis I am all set for Sunday's roll and excited to get this started! I finally found books for 5 and 6. The only problem now will be finding another one for later if that is our roll on Sunday. Maybe I can keep reading JD Robb to match this challenge.

Here is my list of options for Sunday:
#1: Alice in Zombieland or Tithe
#2: Flesh and Blood or Scarlet
#3: Immortal in Death or The Love Shack
#4: Farewell to Freedom
#5: Willow Springs
#6: The Redeemer

message 24: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments I have several 1st and 2nd so that one will be by mood (or tower team).

#3: Never Love a Highlander or Caressed By Ice
#4: ? I'm not thrilled with my choices :(
#5: The Seduction of Elliot McBride or The Saint or The 5th Horseman
#6: Murder on the Half Shelf

Welcome to Waddling Banshees

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi there Tea

I was just saying I'll make a good Waddler . Perfect name for me. Round on the bottom ! :)

Turtlecollector Dennis Welcome, Julie.

message 29: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments In my case it's not only bottom that's round. :)

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Turtle ,and yep, Tea, I know what you mean about being round . I'm Grandma-shaped :)

message 31: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I'm round all over too.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

It sounds like you guys chose a good name for us if we are ALL round .

message 33: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Hi Julie! Glad to have you has part of the team. I have to admit I'm round all over too :)

Turtlecollector Dennis I wouldn't say I am round all over yet, but I am headed that way. I take after my father's side of the family. I really wish I had my mother's and sister's metabolism where they eat as much as they can and never seem to gain weight. My sister is so small, she was borrowing my clothes when she was 6 months pregnant.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Jennifer
Thanks for the welcome . You guys are all so friendly .

I'm excited to get started on this game. It sounds really neat. There are so many fun things going on in this group -- I signed up for another challenge earlier , but decided to do this one instead. I'm probably not speedy enough to keep up with 2 at once, so will try another one once we WIN this one .

message 36: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Hi Julie!

I am 10lbs less round than I was a month ago. My friend and are doing TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) and I'm walking almost everyday.

My daughter has a high metabolism and only ever gains weight in her boobs. She gets that from her father's side. Well she gets the big boobs from my side but the high metabolism from her dad.

Don't worry. :P
If you hang out with us long enough, you'll start signing up for challenges before you can say Banshee. :P
At least two of us here have serious challenge addiction problem. ☺

message 38: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I am a challenge addict.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave wrote: "I am a challenge addict."

Make that three :P

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Mary
Congrats on the weight loss. That's really great .

As for all the challenge addicts, I can see why. There are so many fun ideas in here . I'm trying to list them all in my notebook so I can come back to them later and try one at a time. I've got a one track mind, so I'm not very good at juggling multiple challenges, although I wanna do them all. The Christmas one from last year ( ?) I think it was, sounds so neat, but this one may run too long to get to that ..I also think the scavenger hunt idea is fantastic , just way too many that I wanna do .
Have most of you guys been in the group for a long time ,and is there anyone in here that has completed every single challenge ?

message 41: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments I've joined this group at the beginning of the year because there were those cool bingo challenges and scavenger hunts. :P And no, I don't really finish every challenge I start only because of my poor planing. I rarely plan upfront what I'll read. Which means that I read a book and then try to fit it in challenge (or two, or more) which doesn't always work. Since I want to finish challenges I start, I stopped signing in for those month-long ones. Unless they are really easy. :P

message 42: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments I don't always finish them all either. Most but not all. I try to only join challenges where I know I can use books that I'm already going to read for other challenges.

I have my own thread going in the member tracking area of one of my groups.

Turtlecollector Dennis I usually get mine finished, but I think I have bitten off a little more than I can chew this year. I haven't updated all my challenges for awhile but after a readathon I am doing right now is over, I will get them all updated and see where I stand. I have been slacking off on the monthly ones lately and focusing on longer term ones.

I'm in the exact situation I take after my dad and my mom and sis are toothpicks. I swear sometimes my sister eats and I gain the weight.

message 45: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments My daughter has a friend over. I picked up a large pizza on the way home. I'm glad I got myself some wings because the pizza was literally gone in just a few minutes.

message 46: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Hi ladies, Jennifer had a family emergency and isn't going to be able to play. She wanted me to let y'all know. Y'all are going to have to pick a cap'n. I know most of you weren't interested. Y'all are more than welcome to have co captains if it helps.

message 47: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 527 comments Sorry to hear about Jennifer. I hope everything will be alright.
I can do earlier rolls (just think about it, my midnight is your afternoon :P), but it would be great to have one of you as backup (co-captain) in case we need later roll.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi guys
I hate to back out on you ,but after reading through directions again ,and realizing that at least half the books I read should be in a series , I think I'm gonna have to step out on this one. I don't read any series books at all . Besides that , I think I'd be way too slow to keep up with reading and reviewing 2 books per week .
Really sorry. I should have thought it through more carefully before jumping in with both feet .
I think I'd do much better on a challenge that isn't timed and can be done at my own pace .
Wishing you all the best ! I'll be cheering for you on the sidelines .

message 49: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments There are alternate categories for those who don't have a series book picked.

I can be a back up captain. I'm on EST. I am not a person who stays up late. But I could do the roll before I go to work if needed. (have to check the time it's allowed, maybe I could do it right before I went to bed if I'm asked to do the roll.)

But are we still a team with only 3 players?

message 50: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments We'll find y'all another player, if y'all know of anyone and would like to ask them feel free and I'll do the same.
