I'm always quite humbled when fellow authors ask my advice on marketing. I'm not an expert-however, I have found several experts that have made a significant difference in my career!

In any case, here's my two-cents: Have a professional product! Get a professional cover designer, get professional editors. Get reader feedback with beta testing.

Here's my advice on Goodreads: Be a part of the community first. Introduce yourself to us as a reader, but feel free to put a book link in under your introduction! If we know you as a reader first, you can bet we'll want to know know about your books!

Be sure to promote your books in the appropriate category (Free on the free days etc)

For information on marketing and for a great author resource I definitely recommend Melissa Foster and Fostering Success! Two weeks after finishing Melissa's courses i found both my books on Amazon's bestsellers lists!
