I have a question. What do you all think of making this a two month group? We would choose a book, and instead of having one month to read it, we would have two. So for those who take longer to read a book (like me), it isn't such a rush. So, please let me know what you all think. If we do this, we would make Jane of Lantern Hill our group read for November as well. :)
Unfortunatly I don't think I can join in this time, because I don't own the book and it's not at the library :/ but I'm interested to see what you all think of it!

If you want to read it with us, here is a link to read it online for free.

All-right, since we don't have anyone against the idea of a two month group read setup, then I guess that is what we'll do! :)

Did you finish it? What did you think?
I always find the story of Jane and her parents' split so reactionary after reading Montgomery's more feminist heroines. I feel like J of LH is very much written to fit into its time. I don't like the nasty cattiness of Irene but I wish she wasn't quite so easy for the reader to blame.I do love Jane's relationship with her father. And that sense of her finding her niche is nice too. I always like to imagine a time where real estate was affordable enough for you to go out and buy a house without a loan, or imagine being wealthy enough to do that.
I wish Jane's mother was more likeable and less spineless. Even her daughter seems to appreciate her more for her beauty than anything else.
Has anyone seen the movie of this? It isn't very faithful but I found it enjoyable as long as I imagined it a different story altogether.

I haven't seen the movie, would you recommend it? The only movies, based on her books, that I've seen are the Anne movies. That would be really awesome if those were good too! :)

It was a made-for-TV Jane of Lantern Hill I think. I saw it on PBS perhaps as far back as th 80's or 90's. Colleen Dewhurst (Marilla in the Megan Follows Anne of GG) has a cameo. The actress who plays Jody has a Cockney (maybe?) accent and I distinctly remember a line about "just don't frow me in the clink!" which my sister and I repeated constantly. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0099974/Again, it's not perfectly faithful, but it isn't too horrible.

Please be sure to vote if you haven't already! Thanks!
