I believe that the knowledge she is gaining from the news room is eroding her faith in her parents. I say this because she is finally getting true information and not false and twisted information from her parents. Also she must feel like her parents were holding her back and Jeannette probably will look at them differently.

As we've seen from the beginning of the book, which tells abut Rex and Rose Mary's homeless life, they are perfectly fine living like this. Why would they be comfortable living out in the streets, without a roof under their head and without real food to eat?

it had to happen. no person should stay with their parents when they have a greater potential somewhere else.

She's always giving in to her father because like she said earlier in the book, she has a soft spot for him, and He knows that. He takes advantage of her because of that.

I think it was, because although it showed Jeannette's responsibility, it also showed her weakness for her father. As she gets older, she sas she is losing faith in him and realizes what is happening in her family, this shows that she still loves him, no matter how much he takes advantage of that.

Rosemary probably depends on Rex to some extent, even though she knows about how violent he can be, and is scared of what will happen if she leaves him. I wonder, how would Rex survive without his family?

I think that Rose Mary wants to stay with Rex because she doesn't feel strong enough to support a family on her own. In the book, she is extremely irresponsible. For example, she buys unnecessary things and food for herself and doesn't take good care of her kids. I think she is aware of this because she always acts really guilty when caught.

I believe that Rex did not want his family to split apart. I think this because Rex states "This family is falling apart."

I'd give some evidence, but it's WAY too early in the book to find easily.

he brought up the glass castle as an absolute last resort to keep Jeannette with him. her rejecting the Glass Castle being built shows she has overcome her old childish ideals and come up with new ones.

If I hadn't already lived in New York my whole life, I would be very nervous about leaving my family behind. I would have had no idea what to expect, and how I would survive in a completely different state.

I agree with Daniella. Rose Mary has never been fully responsible for her children, in a crisis, Rex was always the one who took care of them, and the family really started to fall apart when it was just Rose Mary

I think she said that Rex should work on it by himself because she doesn't believe in him anymore and to show him he won't stop her from leaving.

I think that the walls family was always separating, but it is more apparent later in the book because Jeannette is maturing and seeing it for herself.

Ya know, I didn't even consider that one! Well, that may have been a part of it, but at the same time, it could be that he didn't want the two of them to leave, especially Jeanette, because as I mentioned above in a response to Maddie's question, she's one of the only people who, for a long time, had any faith in her father.

They appear to be falling apart because Jeannette is starting to finally see how much Rex is bringing down the family, and since the book is from her perspective, we finally see how bad everything actually is. For example she says on page 210 that she feels used by her dad, and she finally understand what it means because she is experiencing it.

I think that she still has faith in him because se sees how much he just wants her to believe in him and not lose faith in him completely, for example when he promised her he wouldn't drink but he did anyways, she was still okay with it cause she still had faith in him
