Greetings, I'm interested in reading some Hemingway right now if anyone else is, and I'd be especially interested in a discussion if things can get going again. What do you think? G.

Hey Gary, sounds good. I've been reading a Farewell to Arms and asked others to join my discussion, but a big group discussion would be cool.
How far along, are you Lisa? I could get on board with Farewell. I've read it a few times (and gave it a mediocre review most recently but I could be wrong). Let's see where you are and what others might want to tackle. Thanks for your reply. G.
Yes, I read through your thread and am sorry to have missed your start. Since you're as far along as you are...let's keep this open for a couple days and see if anyone else weighs in. If not, maybe I could hop on your Farewell discussion. Are you willing to read something else after this if we start a new work? Maybe a short story?
Next month Im reading For whom the bell tolls for Banned Books. I'm only 40% through farewell to arms and am reading weekly only due to other commitments.
I've been meaning to read "For Whom the Bell Tolls". I would love to join you when you decide to start it :)
I'm down with that. I haven't read For Whom the Bell Tolls for more than twenty years. Is Nov 1 the start date, then?
Lisa, you want to start a new thread with the title FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS with a starting date of Nov. 1st? Or shall I do it? Being the moderator and all? Your choice, my dear......
I was going to write to you next, Gary. Tell us what to do. And it's probably your umpteenth time through but I hope you'll lend your wisdom to the discussion.
Would you like to make it the "currently reading" selection for the group, Gary. That hasn't changed since 2010 so maybe it's time. And a higher profile would benefit us with more joined in the discussion.

Hi all, are we still planning on For Whom the Bell Tolls for November? I'm excited to read more by Papa.

Gary, I tried. With no luck. I can't remember or figure out how to do that. Help me????

Yeah, but it would be nice. I tried one evening, and got the date changed, but says Farewell to Arms, which is wrong......This website has been messed up for some time, and stuff not working correctly....since the big take over occurred..... I will try again , tomorrow. Today, I am cleaning, and preparing for a murder mystery night with my bookclub at my house. Busy boy today!

We weren't invited tonight, Gary... ;) I hope you have fun!
I think I posted Farewell. Have a look when you get time and let me know if you want anything changed. I left it without a moderator. Is that agreeable? I'll speak up if necessary.
Is there anything else to do, Lisa? In some groups in the past I've introduced questions. Let me know what you think.
I've found the thread! Usually in my group we set up a schedule then go by weekly threads. I like the idea of the moderator supplying food for thought.
And maybe a member- wide message from the moderator that this is our group read from 1 November? It will attract others.

Okay, Lisa, let me look at the text this weekend and come up with some ideas.
I'm happy to moderate. Is this agreeable to you, Gary?
Ok, Gary, looks Great! I just removed Farewell to Arms for the same dates, just now....so....tell me how the hell did you do that? Send me a PM email on here, buddy? I need to learn. I tried before, and couldn't get it to work...... *smirk*

You too buddy. The murder mystery setting is a train escaping from Nazi Occupied Paris. I am making bat place setting cards, (they are actually whistles) and listening to Edith Pilaf, and train sound effects.
