Y.A WRITERS! discussion

I need a name for a large kingdom made up mainly of desert (I'm talking Sahara-style plus Nevada style desert) with arable land nearer to the ocean frontiers. It's a peninsula and links towards moorlands the more north you go. There are some islands off its western coast. I don't know why that description is necessary but I basically need a name, either made up or rooted in latin and greek that connotes to the harshness of the sun, heat and sand of the country. If not, any fresh ideas are welcome! Thanks :)
