For the month of November, we are going to hit our TBRs as hard as we can - in preparation for all those Christmas books that you will add! But we also want Historical Fiction on the agenda as well....so at least one Historical Fiction book AND as many books from your TBR as you'd like:)

Does your TBR pile look like THIS???

Well, this is the challenge for you!

If you'd like to Ashleigh, that is perfectly fine:) And as it's a month to lower your TBR as well, you can read as many as you like;)

I don't have much historical fiction on my TBR list but I see Possession is classified as such. So a good excuse to read it sooner rather than later.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I am definitely in. My must read historical novel is Sarah Dunant, Blood and Beauty. Plus the huge pile of TBR, I am on a mission!

Blood & Beauty: The Borgias by Sarah Dunant

Good on you Karren! November will be a big month of reading:)

message 23: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2203 comments Scanning through the lists, I see I've read quite a bit more historical fiction than I would have expected. Some of my favourites include The Red Tent, Year of Wonders, Fatal Majesty: A Novel of Mary, Queen of Scots and Through a Glass Darkly. Actually I've enjoyed all Reay Tannahill's historical novels.

I was sitting on the couch just now and spotted something out of the corner of my eye: Wolf Hall - perhaps the time has come?!

message 31: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2203 comments For those who are planning to read Burial Rites by Hannah Kent for this challenge, you might be interested to know that you can still watch the episode of ABC's Australian Story from July online. It is more about the writing and the publishing of the book, but covers some aspects of the plot as well. The link is here: http://www.abc.net.au/austory/special...

I'm halfway through the book for the October challenge and decided to re-watch this to get some help with pronunciation, which I'm finding is slowing me down a bit. (Not that I mind reading it slowly - it is a book to wallow in!)

message 32: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 1161 comments I've chosen a couple - lets see how many I can get through!
A Dangerous Inheritance by Alison Weir A Dangerous Inheritance / Alison Weir

message 39: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 101 comments Been a bit slack on the challenge front - been pluging away at the Aussie Authors one and the seasonal challenges - but am going to join in on this one:

Historical (and on the TBR pile) Blameless by Gail Carriger

Then a few from the TBR:

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
Secondhand Spirits by Juliet Blackwell

That should help me with a few other challenges as well :)

message 44: by Brit (last edited Nov 29, 2013 05:29AM) (new)

Brit McCarthy (booksineppalove) | 11 comments My Historical Fiction will be Uncle Tom's Cabin and will be aiming to read about six books off my TBR (low number as I'll be doing exams!)

EDIT.
Historical Fiction:
Finished Uncle Tom's Cabin on the 25th November.
TBR Books:
Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick finished 2nd November
You Against Me by Jenny Downham finished 26th November
The Quiet American by Graham Greene finished 29th November, could classify as Historical too

Really need to stop reading books that aren't on my TBR!

James Loftus | 134 comments I am reading The Grass Crown. Colleen is one of my favourite authors.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Do we have to nominate ahead of time all the books we plan to read or can we just nominate our Historical Fiction and then see how we go from there?

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Thanks Michael, I didn't want to set myself up with an over ambitious stack of books ahead of time :-{ Lol...some of those FH ones have millions of pages!! ...now I can just go for broke! ;-)

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments That's good to know Michael, I have plenty to choose from so just a matter of prioritizing now...hmmmm decisions. I have a few arcs so I might catch up with those and get some reviews out of the way :-)

message 50: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2203 comments I think I've made up my mind. Wolf Hall is too big, considering I'm going to be on holidays, so I'm going to read Wanting by Richard Flanagan Wanting by Richard Flanagan as my historial fiction. The TBR choices will depend on my holiday whim.
