On the opposite side of the school as the forest, lies the Great Lake, as the faculty calls it. It spreads as far as the eye can see. Where it ends? Nobody knows. Many mermaid colonies have made their homes in the Great Lake.

Alice skipped down to the lake. She loved the water, it made her feel free. She stopped when she saw someone else by the lake. She tiptoes closer, as not to disturb him, and sat down on a rock by the water a bit away from the dark haired boy.
Alice looked up confused, was he talking to her? By choice? "Oh, oh yes... It's lovely." She said a bit distractedly. Alice was used to talking to nurses at the asylum, she wasn't good at being social. She looked out over the lake and watched the boy from the corner of her eyes warily.
Ariel wandered over to the lake, missing the feel of water on her limbs. She sighed and looked around. She saw a young man sitting on the shore and made her way over.
"Yes it is." Ariel said blushing. The guy had no shame. She looked him over as well and found him very attractive. "I'm Ariel."
((Okay:))Ariel blushed even more. She looked away towards the lake.
((Really? Ugh okay we can finish this tomorrow.))
Alice awkwardly walked over and sat near to Eric, but still a safe distance away. She noticed him winking at the mermaids and she frowned, "You know, I was always told mermaids are not to be trusted." She spoke truthfully. "My parents didn't believe in them. But I knew."
Alice nodded, "Yes I just arrived. My nurses just found out about the safety school about two weeks ago. They enrolled me at once and sent me away." She smiled at Eric, "But it's all right, i'm used to being sent away." She said casually.
"Oh." Alice said not noticing what she had just said, "Well... It's a long story." She mumbled. Alice didn't need anyone else thinking she was a freak. Alice looked over the beautiful blue lake, and wondered what it would be like to jump in and just swim away from everything. Her parents would never notice her absence. They hadn't spoken to her since she was twelve. Her nurses might notice, but that was unlikely. They were always busy.

((It's okay, my character can head out and we can have the two future love birds join up))Alice stood up suddenly, not wanting to discuss her past in the asylum. "Well, I must be off now!" she said hurriedly. "Up, down, over, around. Where will it end? Right 'round the bend!" Alice sang to herself as she hurried off.
((Continue from where we left off?))Ariel looked out towards the lake. She saw mermaids swimming just under the surface. She sighed, missing her family. Her father finally let her out into the world but it wasn't the same without the feel of water on her skin. She turned back to the boy. "I just moved here."
((I know they suck:())"Um well I haven't been here long so I'm still getting used to things. But it's a good school so far." Ariel said feeling slightly insecure talking to him. He didn't have much experience talking to guys.
"No I haven't been around. You're the first person I have met so far and I haven't had anyone show me around yet." She said hoping he would offer.
(I know!!)Ariel blushed again. She took his hand letting him lead her away. "So where are we going?" She asked curious.
Ariel blushed. Again. She liked the feel of her hand in his. "The courtyard?" She said trying to stifle the butterflies in her stomach. She didn't want to sound like some love sick girl so she tried to make conversation. "Why the courtyard?"
Ariel walked arm in arm with Eric to the lake. She stared across the water loving it's crystal clear color. Se missed the deep blue of the ocean but had always favored the lighter colors of lakes and rivers. She picked a spot that offered good lighting and sat down. She pulled out her sketchbook and pencils.
Ariel began sketching the lake. She loved the way the colors blended together. She saw the mermaids swimming under the surface but they were gone to quick for her to grasp a good image of them. Instead she focused on the nature around the lake. The verdant green of the trees and the mixed colors of the flowers. She'd been drawing for awhile when she felt eyes on her. She turned and met Eric's startling green eyes. She blushed and looked down at her drawing again.
She felt a shift in the air and glanced up again. Eric was noticeably closer. "What are you doing?" She asked a nervous shake in her voice. She was nervous and excited at the prospect of him leaning towards her.
Ariel sucked in a breath at his kiss. Her lips tingled and she couldn't form a coherent thought to save her life. "That's what a kiss feels like?" She asked he brain to mouth filter not working quite right.
When he kissed her again her heart started beating really fast. She pulled away. "Why did you do that?" She asked still breathless from his kisses.
Ariel blushed. "Well your ruining my concentration." She said trying and failing to sound disapproving. "So... Um I was wondering... Can I draw you?" She asks preparing herself for his rejection.
Ariel nodded. She shifted trying to get a good angle. Once she got settled he began to draw. She loved drawing. It relaxed her in a way nothing else could. She sketched Eric's sculpted face.
Ariel laughed a musical laugh. "Yes I'm done." She said. She tucked her hair behind her ear and studied her drawing. She fixed up a few places that needed work but overall she wasn't too disappointed in her work.
She turned her book around and showed him waiting for his reaction. She didn't know why he cared so much about what he thought but he did. "So? What do you think?" She ventured.
"Like a drawing or an actual picture?" She asked confused. She didn't know why he wanted a picture but was pretty sure she didn't have one. She didn't want him disappointed though.
"Well... Since I lived underwater most of my life I don't think I have any pictures. But I can draw you one tonight if you want. It will take me a bit longer since its a self portrait but I can still do it." She said happy that he wanted a picture a her.
Ariel blushed. She closed her sketch book. "What would you like to do now?" She asked curious. She wondered if he wanted to spend as much time with her as she wanted to with him.
She stopped breathing all together as he got closer. Her hands started to shake and her heart was going a mile a minute. She didn't have experience with this sorta thing but she leaned forward anyways.
She leaned forward even more and pressed her lips to his. Her lips smoldered at the contact. His lips were incredibly soft. Softer than she originally thought.
(Idk either. I've never been kissed)Ariel didn't know how long she was supposed to kiss him for. She didn't want to stop but she didn't want to seem to clingy. So she let him take the lead.
Ariel blushed the color of her hair. "Was that okay?" She asked. She didn't want to make a fool outta herself.
"There's not much to tell. My father always forbid me to have anything to do with the outside world." Ariel said bitterly. "I wanted to experience things so badly that I went to a sea witch to get legs." She said sheepishly.
(Omg Athena! We keep missing each other!)
((You two could also just respond whenever you're on instead of waiting for both of you too be on. That way the rp wouldn't end))
"No. He hates the idea of me here. The only reason he let me was because of Ursula and her magic." Ariel said. She missed home but it was such a constricting life.
"Collecting unusual objects, sketching, and singing." She said. She had just recently found joy in sketching. It was something she hasn't tried before because she couldn't draw under water.
"Anything that seems odd. Like misshaped shells or wonky gadgets. I haven't seen much so I collected whatever fell in the ocean." She said thinking about her cave.
"What about you? What do you like?" She asked wanting to know as much about him as she could. For some reason she felt drawn to him.
