Books 'N Booze Book Club discussion

For me it took discussing the book to find the humor. When I was reading it I think I was looking for something deeper/more serious. But in talking about it I was able to see how the absurdity of the novel was where the humor lay. I guess I just needed to step back from it a bit to see that there were some genuinely funny parts. But I'm still not a fan. I would like to read some of his other novels if anyone has some suggestions?
