I had a pretty good reading year. I am having a hard time narrowing down favorites but I will give it a go.I am not sure they are in any order, just some good ones.
Dodger
This book was so much fun to read. Historical fiction with a little romance and lots of laughs. Kind of a fun idea as to how Dickens came up with the beloved character of Dodger.
Navigating Early This book touched me in my heart. I really loved this tale of seeking and finding both literally and metaphorically. The False Prince
Clever and surprising. This is so well presented. It just grabs you and holds you the whole time. Many people have told me they didn't like the 2nd in the trilogy, The Runaway King, as well but I loved it! The character development and plot twists are amazing.
The Light Between OceansThis was a book that hit me in my heart. A look at what can happen to your life when you are not true to yourself and others. The Rithmatist
This is Brandon Sanderson. What more need I say? The guy is amazing and so is this YA steam punk type fantasy. Why will it take so long before we get another in this series?!Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics|16158542] You should really read this. I listened to in on CD and I would highly recommend that as well. This book is written in such a way that you can almost imagine being there. I was so amazed at the greatness of these men.
Every 15-16 year old should just read this. This gives so much good advice for how to live a successful and full life. The wisdom of age reaching out to youth.
On The Wings of Heroes This was a book that just made you think about and appreciate the men and women who made/make so many sacrifices because of patriotism and love of country. He shows you how the war affected those back home as well as the way it changed the soldiers. But don't think this is all serious. Mr. Peck has much laughter and fun as he tells his story. There were several more I really liked but I will limit myself to these. You can take whichever you want to "cheerlead" for.
Oops, somehow when I edited, I lost one. I have to include The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics Wow! This was such a great story. The best thing being that it is true! This book is so well written and it just makes you feel like you are there. I listened to this on cd and I would highly recommend that. The reader was great. This is a book about some extraordinary, ordinary guys.
