Hey guys and welcome to the group!

The aim of the group is very simple - to read as diversely as possible. So one month may we may read a translated work, the next an immigrant narrative, the next an indigenous account and the next an LGBT novel.

We're hoping that by doing this we expand our reading horizons and all find something we enjoy that we would not have known about otherwise.

This group is also hoping to highlight books that may not be as well advertised online or in bookstores so look forward to some unheard of gems!

We will be reading a book a month and hope to see you guys participating with the read and subsequent discussions as much as you can :) The books will be selected three months in advance by 15 booktubers who are participating in this project. Feel free to give us recommendations in the nominations folder. We'd love to hear what you guys have to say!

Every month we will have a discussion thread up about the current book being read - but be warned there could be spoilers! So enter at your peril (I would advise you finish the book first, haha).

Videos will be posted every month by several of the booktubers involved in this project. You can find out about all the booktubers involved in this project by going to the 'Booktubing' folder where all out channels are linked. There is also a folder titled 'Videos' where you can find posts about any new content we may have uploaded regarding the book club and the books we are reading. We are hoping to do a live Google Hangout at the end of each month discussing that months book so we will keep you updated about the date and time of these events in the 'Videos' thread so make sure to keep checking in!

We all hope you are as excited as we are about this new project! We'd love to get to know you so feel free to go to the thread titled 'Welcome' to introduce yourself!

Hey everyone, sorry I've been absent. I've had a terrible week. But before it got too late, I wanted to let everyone know that in addition to the fun discussion here on GoodReads, we are planning on having a Google Hangout for live discussion of The Slynx on December 1 at 12:00 (noon) EST. This should still be early enough for people in Europe if they want to join. I believe, Didi will host on her channel and I will also be there. It's our first one, so bear with us, but if it goes well, we hope it can be another way to interact with each other and the book.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Google hangout date is coming up. Hope to see you there. Will post more if/when I have more info.

Deni can anyone give me a quick run-down on what a google hang-out is? I've never participated in one, and I really have no idea what they are. I think I need to become a little more technologically savy!

Hey hey,

Basically I believe you have to have a google plus account to do it. It's a live video. So the host (in this case Didi) would add you as a contact and then invite you. It's like skype but live on the internet. And then people can watch and comment live and we can respond to the comments as we get them.

I hope that helps :)

Elli (The Bibliophile) (thebibliophilebooks) | 24 comments Hey guys, just wanted to say I wont be available for the google hang-out as I will be working! I'll definitely watch it afterwards :) Have fun!

Joanne-in-Canada (inkling_jo) How do I make sure that I get a notice when you decide an upcoming book?

If you join the club a few days before every month you should get a notification saying something like, "The International Book Club is reading this soon: _____with the book here". At least, I do on my computer. To see the books we're going to be reading in upcoming months you can go to the "Countries" thread I created. In it I'm posting all the books titles, authors, and countries of origin and setting.
