Suzanne After thinking I was going to read more books outside the US next year, I starting putting together another USA list for next year and I'm really excited about it. Anyone else thinking about next year?

message 2: by Stacy (new)

Stacy McDaniel I'm going to have to work on my original list next year. I have only read twelve states this year and just go to busy to finish. I may get a couple more in this year.

That works, too! I know I will have to wrap up this year's list next year, but that's okay. I'm just enjoying reading books I've been meaning to get to and also to adding new recommendations from USA challenge friends!

Louise | 89 comments I've read 24 of my 52 books, so I'm stretching this challenge to include 2014 as well :-)

I found this group late so I didn't really officially start my road trip this year. Are most of y'all just continuing in this group or will there be a new group. I'm just beginning to put my list together...

Lesley | 95 comments I also plan to carry on with my current list, as I didn't manage to get many read this year.

I think we can just continue on with this group. I will have to finish a couple of my 2013 books next year, but I will add a new book list for 2014. In fact, I will probably call it 2014-2015 USA list because I know it will take me two years to finish this one!

I agree. I am just continuing on with my list, as well as my around the world list. My seasonal 3 month challenges have deadlines, which is enough pressure for me. Glad others are planning on continuing on.

Thanks for your comments/feedback! I look forward to road tripping with y'all!

Absolutely. I'll change the group name when we hit 2014. My problem is tha I kept reading for last year's Around the World list and didn't get to many on my USA list! Next year will be another chance.

Yrinsyde I'll be continuing in 2014!

Suzanne Glad to continue the journey with all of you!

Jayme I really thought that I'd complete this challenge by the end of December. I have read 47/52, but with library holds coming up, reading for other challenges, my darn job :) , and of course the Tournament of Books list will be released in December - which really skews my thought out reading plans, I've decided to lighten-up and play in in 2014.

And... can anyone recommend a good book for Colorado? I had planned to read The Song of the Lark by Willa Cather, but I don't think I can read another Cather book right now.

My Colorado book (which I haven't read yet, but know is going to be good) is Centennial. Another very good book which partly takes place in Colorado is Loving Frank. Happy reading, Jayme!

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't read a Michener book in years, but love them. I read
Loving Frank a few years ago and last summer went to see Falling Waters - amazing.

Thanks Jenny. Now I have two good books to choose from when I get to Colorado.

Marianne Weber | 61 comments Yeah, finishing this challenge could happen this year if it weren't for pesky finals and school. I read a ton this year, but I kept getting distracted and couldn't seem to get out of New York for a while. I will definitely be continuing in 2014 though!!!

message 23: by Louise (new)

Louise | 89 comments I found New York quite distracting too Marianne :-)

message 24: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 49 comments I am also only at 24 (and need to update where I have been for each state) so I will finish the rest up next year!
