Married couple. There are plenty interracial stories, where the hero and heroine meet and get their HEA. I want a HEA already.
Yes, married people are romantic.
An excellent writer can show true love and romance in a marriage.

I like stories that have BBW who are not filled the insecurity and self-doubt. I really do think that men find confidence a very sexy quality in women.
I want to see some of the classic themes that have made a lot of great stories. Enemies (or competitors) turned lovers, revenge stories, etc. I eat that stuff up. :DAnd personally, I think there's enough contemporary. Time to branch out. That might be another reason IR doesn't have as wide a market. There aren't as many readers for contemporary in general.
I'd love to see younger women with older distinguished men. :-D
But I do agree with NU, I'd love to see more IR across the genres rather than just contemporaries. Fantasy and Sci-Fi especially. I have some in the works but I wanna be lazy and read others for a while instead lol.

That's true too. I'd love to see more historical IRs as well with some good historical setting and facts thrown in for a realistic feel.
Eugenia, I got a book for you since you like the early America era. Passing Strange by Martha J. Sandweiss. I saw this lady on Book TV and she was talking about this scholar at the turn of the century who was this big history guy and well bred and all that in his time. Turns out he had lead a secret double life because he fell in love with a black woman and told her that he was a light skinned black man. But in reality he was really a white man passing so he could marry her. He had to keep both lives secret from the other so he could keep his job providing for their family. She didn't find out the truth until his deathbed and thus spent the better half of the century fighting for the estate that was hers since she was his lawfully wedded wife.
Really interesting stuff. It's non-fiction but really fascinating. It's usually passing the other way so this was the first I heard of it this way.

I hadn't heard of that story. Very interesting indeed! It definitely is great to see stories like this on how far these couples go for love when the world was against them.

I wish I was prolific! I feel like I've fallen a bit behind since ComputerFail09 but I'm slowly but surely catching up on the works-in-progress. Sometimes I wish I had a clone. :-)
I forgot to second the married couples romances that Arch mentioned. That would be really cool to read also.

I agree.
I agree.
I would love to read an IR action-adventure type story. I like stories where the characters travel the world or deal with criminals in the underground trying to hunt something or someone down. You never see books with IR couples doing things like that. The only one that I've read like that is "Riding the Snake".

I love action-adventure. That's one of the genres I'd like to write in. A few of the stories I've written are action-adventure, including my first story. It's not interracial, it's BWBM, and I still love those characters and the storyline.
Riding the Snake sounds like an interesting one. I read an action-adventure type recently that I liked by JM Jeffries, A Dangerous Woman. I'm planning to read more of theirs in the future.
I want to see nerd heroes. I want the kind of nerd that's cute, but doesn't really see himself that way. He could wear glasses. Cute glasses. Of course, I'll love to see him in jeans. I'm a jeans woman. Some men can wear jeans nicely. It wouldn't hurt if he's bowlegged too.
I would love to a murder/mystery, suspense novel with IR characters. I also like the idea of the cute nerd who doesn't know it. Kinda reminds me of my hubby! He wears glasses too! :)
Hey Mahogany, the nerd theme is all good like a chicken bone.
I want stories where the heorine has to protect the hero. Yet, he's still all man.
I have to get back to my story His Bodyguard.
Oh, let me not forget about this theme. Romantic comedy. I love books that makes me laugh.

I love nerds! I'm all for more nerdy heroes (and glasses).

Mahogany your hubby sounds adorable. :)

A good paranormal series (that has lots of action) and is not erotic. It can be sexy and sensual, but mainstream in the sex quotient. Along the lines of The Ghostwalkers or Immortals After Dark.
Military heroes, keep them coming. More interracial with Asian or Native American heroes. Heroines for that matter.

Dr. Nick on Primeval is a nerd. I like the way he punches and the way he dresses. He's cute. The bags under his eyes makes him even cuter.
Of course, I like Connor. He's a nerd too and I like the way he dresses.
They both know how to wear jeans. I can't forget about the other character, who's no longer on the show. Stephen. He knew how to wear jeans too.

Ah, don't get me started on my Nick, who is not on Primeval anymore. I do like Jason Flemyng so I am trying to deal with my grief. I like Conner. He's looking mighty cute in Season 3.
Arch I think you've rubbed off on me. I am noticing guys in jeans a lot more lately. :)

Danielle,
Nick is still on Primeval, unless they killed him off last Saturday. I didn't get a chance to watch it last Saturday.
The actor that plays Stephen is no longer on the show.
And yes, some men can wear jeans well. He has to be a catcher in my eyes, in order for the jeans to look good on him.

He wasn't on there last Saturday, and Claudia left (on BBC America). I know Stephen died. My sister told me that. I like a guy who has nice legs and a nice bum in his jeans. If he has no bum, it's just sad.
Nick better still be on the show. If he's gone. Then they mind as well cancel the show. He's the professor.
Now, a guy has to have something in the backyard to hold up the pants.

Riding the Snake is a book by Stephan J. Cannell. He's the guy who created Hill Street Blues back in the day. The only issue I have with the book is his overuse of street slang in parts of the book. It's the story of a rich, silver-spoon country club white guy who gets drawn in a wild search for his brother's killer alongside a black female LA detective. Their investigation takes them into the under belly of Hong Kong where they end up running for their lives from the Chinese mafia and then the Crips in LA. It's a long detailed book, but a very good read.
I hate when a man's pants are falling off. I don't like guys who dress like thugs period. A guy who dresses nerdy has a better chance with me than a thuggish guy.
Sorry, Arch. I think darling Nick is gone. But Jason's pretty cute and has the most wonderful accent. He doesn't replace my Nick but I like him all the same.

Did you say Chinese mafia? Cool!

Jason must be that new cute guy on Primeval. He can't take Nick's place. Maybe Douglas/Doug is taking a break right now.
Oh well, I get to see Butch on Saving Grace. The new season starts tomorrow.

He could never ever take Nick's place, but I do like him. :) At least we have season 1 and 2 with Nicky-poo.

Cool, Loni. I love a good actioner. Have you ever read Ice Station by Matt Reilly? It's not IR and doesn't have a romance, per se, but if you like action, you should read this book. Shane, the hero was pretty hot. What a badass!

Now that sounds interesting...a heroine who protects the hero.

If he didn't provide the translation I would be completely lost.
As a matter of fact I ended up skipping those parts. I wasn't even sure I was pronouncing the words correctly anyhow
Loni wrote: "Riding the Snake is a book by Stephan J. Cannell. He's the guy who created Hill Street Blues back in the day. The only issue I have with the book is his overuse of street slang in parts of the boo..."Just finished reading it. it was a good read
I would also love to see more married IR couples. Having been married for over 2 decades, its always nice to see characters reconnecting and rekindling their love for each other. It's very triumphant and hopeful. More international IRs. Either the hero or heroine could be from another country or they could be Americans working or vacationing overseas. Just anything that changes up the "American" dynamic. The world is so much bigger than America, and sometimes more interesting too.
I want to see more conflict beyond race. Yes, race is perhaps a big issue in IR relationships, but it doesn't have to take centrefold all the time. As someone else said revenge, coming of age, lost love, epic love, whatever. Let's have 'em all.
I agree with all the suggestions you made. I'd love to see more international flavor in the IRs (and write some too).
That would be awesome to see more international IR's, I agree! That gives me some ideas, too hehe.
