I think when your parents have to buy it for you, because you don't have money yet, then that's too young. But if it's a treat, and you buy it yourself, then I think it's fine. Your parents could still put requirements on whether you could have caffeine in it or not.

It also kind of depends on the culture/environment you grew up in...


I for one don't think coffee's an awful drink for kids that are, say, twelve and up. The main problem people have with it is the caffeine, but the amount of sodas kids drink today can quickly add up to a comparable amount to drip coffee.
And coffee doesn't even(unless added) have sugar. Articles have even been written on the health benefits of moderate coffee intake(too much of anything is bad for you.).
I say if they don't go overboard and they're of an age where it's not thought medically harmful for them to have it, they should have it. There are worse things to catch your teen consuming.

Nowadays I drink coffee if I remember having coffee in the fridge...I ask my maid politely to make me some to avoid them running out of date!
