Riley was high above, sitting in the trees. It was a boring uneventful day so far. She watched all the big, scary and ferocious animals below. She liked to watch over them. Xerox was off who knows where. Riley wasn't concerned thou, he could take care of himself.
Sam walked through the bushes quietly. She knew that many didn't make out unharmed. She looked at the tall trees standing above her and decided it would be easier to leap from tree to tree. She flew up, hoping no one saw her and started gazing around.
Riley, with her heightened hearing heard a noise. She looked curiously around her. Finally, she spotted what appeared to be an angel. Riley smirked. "What is an angel doing here?" she thought. Riley stayed put. Her eyes honed in on the angel.
Sam sensed someone else was there. She turned around. Maybe there were two people. She started picking up her pace.
Riley watched as another person landed and transformed. "This day is starting to get interesting." Riley thought. She caught sight of the angel moving faster. Riley did not follow. She was too lazy on this particular day. Instead Riley watches the new arrival.
Sam grinned, she knew exactly where the person was. She flew and landed on a branch behind the stranger.
Sam sensed another person. Why were they there? She decided to find out who was in front of her first.
Greta fell flat on her face in a bush, her breath knocked out of her. Where was she? What was that gust of wind that she passed through? Was she unconscious? Dreaming? She slowly opened her eyes, surprised to be staring at dirt and foliage.
Sam felt that another person had just entered. Now there were four including herself. She thought that was a big number for the amount of people in the forest. Not many came here and she warned to never even come close to this place.
Riley, sensing the angel behind her stands and turns to face her in the blink of an eye. She stands casually enough, in her short denim pants and oversized grey t-shirt, her feet bare and her hair loose. She also has a jacket on, but only goes down to the middle of her back. The sleeves are also short. The jacket is green and sports a hoodie. She says in a rather melodic voice "You must be either very brave or very stupid, no angel comes into these woods." For the moment Riley ignores the other girl in the tree.
"I'm not stupid!"Sam protested, before she fell off the branch. She didn't fall because she was flying. "Who are you?" She asked once she got back on the branch.
Greta suddenly heard a voice coming from somewhere nearby. Something about an angel? Angles didn't live on Earth, or at least not to her knowledge. Then again, maybe whatever she was shouldn't live there either, with what she could do. Or maybe she wasn't on Earth altogether, maybe she was somewhere else, somewhere different. She remained silent and kept listening.
Riley watched on in amusement, a smile playing around her lips. The angel smelled delicious, Riley could sense her blood pulsing. Instead she tried to ignore her feelings and smiled fully at the angel, revealing her long, pearly and delicate fangs. "Oh I'm not so sure about that," Riley gestured with her eyes to the branch the angel had fallen to and then back to her. " I am the vampire Riley, and you?".
'Vampire?' Greta thought. Either this was a really vivid dream, in which case there would be no reason to be scared, or it was reality, and she had every reason to be completely terrified. ((Sorry don't have italics on mobile))
Suddenly the angel was gone. Riley's expression turned into a frown. "How odd." She said to no one in particular. It was only then that Riley sensed another presence. Still ignoring the girl on the branch, Riley tracked the other presence with her hearing. Upon finding a heartbeat nearby, Riley jumped out of the tree, landing gracefully and soundlessly below. She used her speed and before one could blink, she was in front of the new stanger. Riley could sense the girl was human, and oddly, not from this world. She placed her hand on her hip and looked down at the girl on the ground. "How the bloody hell did you get here?".
Greta slowly rolled over onto her back, and found herself looking up at another face, but one hidden in a tree. Despite her intentions, she let out a little squeak of fright.
Greta scrambled to her feet, awkwardly trying to face the stranger as an equal. Unfortunately, her voice betrayed her. "Um.... I just...found a door with wind..? I don't really know. Am I awake?"
Riley was surprised. The girl was scared, when she had only asked a question. Riley thought to herself, "this isn't good." She jumped out of the tree and landed softly beside the girl. She stayed in her crouched position, merely turning to look the girl in the eye "Do you know where you are?" She asked in a kinder voice.
Greta had no clue, so she ventured for the obvious guess. "A forest?" She asked, hoping with all her will that she was wrong, and she was still in the weird basement of her high school.
Riley silently turned her head from side to side. "What a bloody pickle this is." Riley got to her feet. She said to the girl "I am the vampire Riley, this is the parallel world Terca Lumireis, you are in the woods known as The Misty Forrest. You're in deep shit my friend."
Greta just stared at this person - or vampire, she thought - named Riley with confusion and disbelief. "Are you telling me that whatever I stepped through landed me on a different planet?" she asked. "Also....why am I in so much trouble?"
Riley watched the girl with interest. "Yes, that is what I'm saying. And as to the second, it doesn't matter, what does is to get you back. I will take you back home in exchange for a little nip." With that Riley smiled, showing her fangs and looking suggestivly to the girl's neck.
Greta backed away quickly, eyeing Riley's fangs with horror. She slammed her back into a tree, but soon enough her power kicked in due to her fright and she passed right through it. She could still see Riley through the tree, and hoped that she would stop advancing.
"Wait, what do you think you're doing?" Sam reappeared in between them. "Don't touch her. She looked back, the girl was scared. 'Maybe she doesn't understand what's going on.' She thought. The she turned back to the vampire.
Riley's interest was piqued. But she could see the girl was scared out of her wits. So instead of further upset Riley stopped smiling. "Look, it's fine, forget I said anything. But the fact remains this place is dangerous and you need to get home, or do you know the way? If not then come with me, I won't bite you." With that Riley held out her hand.
Sam smacked the vampire's hand away. "Stop it. You're frightening her even more. I can help her."
"No thanks," said Greta, having gained some confidence after passing through the tree. Besides, she didn't really trust the vampire who just offered to bite her. As for the other appearing girl, she'd take her chances.
Riley just looked on. Her hand now by her side. "Very well angel. I leave you to take care of it." With that Riley turned on her heels and vanished into the woods.
Sam wasn't so sure that the vampire would just run off like that. Then she turned to the other girl. "First, Are you alright?" She asked in a calm, gentle voice.
Riley was a little peeved, but she understood. She headed to the portal in the woods. Passing through it and disappearing.
Greta quickly assessed her physical state, and occluded that she was fine. She then said to the angel "Yeah, nothing more than scrapes and bruises. Who are you?"
"I don't know," Greta replied. "A new door appeared in my school and I followed the path it led to until I was swept up in a gust of wind and landed here. That's about it."
Sam slowly let what she said sink into her head. The shock appeared on her face. She had traveled through a portal. She had to leave or else she'd be caught. "What's your name?"She asked.
"I'm Greta," she said, noticing Sam looked about as shocked as she felt. She guessed people didn't usually appear in these parts, though it seemed pretty populated to her.
"Nothing. Where do you live. As far as I can tell, you live on Earth. Which city, state or country?"She asked.
Greta knew Sam was holding back the truth, and as much as she wanted to go home, her curiosity of where she was took over."I live in Washington, but really, why is it dangerous for me here, and not you?"
