That is most generous of the group to consider South African group member authors. As a new SA author myself, I know how difficult it is to get educated and insightful comment on your own work. Of course, the obligation on the writer is to ensure that his work is well written and professionally edited, to the standards of traditionally published books.
With some of my previous (pre-group)reading commitments almost out of the way, I am looking forward to the December read, Jock of the Bushveld. I am sure it will be a nostalgia trip for us all to re-visit this wonderful classic of SA literature!

We had to read it at a school - then this was all the literature we were exposed to (as most of the black literature was banned or not on the reading lists), so I have stayed away. It will be an interesting journey back for me.
thanks for that tip on kindle. I have been in overdrive mode reading - done 6 books in two weeks and book budget no longer exists - so could do with a free kindle right now .. tx
Hey Diane, remember to leave a little reading time for my novel - out in December. Perhaps while you're lounging around the pool during the Christmas holidays!Ha! The lazy writing life.

I sure will John -- Will be first to read it
I have also never read Jock. Seen the movie and didnt like it. I absolutely LOVE animals and hate it when they get hurt. Will have to motivate myself to read the novel.
Which movie? The original or the animated one?
A couple of years ago, I went to Barberton where the Jock statue is, patted it on the head and said, 'Good dog.' How to get stared at...

Hi Peeps, I can nominate three novels. All three are South African Writers. One: Firebolt, by myself, will be released the 20th November both print and digital copy, Evenescent, Carlyle Labuschagne, and Three Lea Cherry, THE Rose of Cavendish
Adrienne, thanks. I'm going to put yours on the January poll and the other 2 for Feb. Hope that's cool.
Thanks Lisa. For those that struggle to get copies, just let me know. I can make a plan. It's for

All of them are from South Africa, but because we don't really have a ya market we had to go overseas to publish this. Yell if you need other info.

In September Jock of the Bushveld was elected as our December read. Thankfully, it is available on kindle.
A thought for January was to allow the authors who are members of this group to nominate their books as a group read. In the last week of November we will set up a poll to vote for a book.
Concurrently, we are calling for other nominations for February and March.
There will therefore be two nomination threads for 2014 at present. Any further thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
